Notes of strong black coffee and liquorice. Prickly-strong finish, also scratchy. Really good beer! arminjewell (102), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Aroma gave strong coffee and chocolate tones. Tasted of really sweet chocolate with a very complimentary coffee/espresso flavor. Almost good enough to have in the morning! monkeychugg55 (222), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Pours black as outer space with short lived light brown head. Smells like coffee, with a hint of coffee and a touch of coffee. Also some roasty malt and chocolate in there. Flavor is smooth with chocolate malt upfront, fading into coffee bitterness. Pretty good. Might start drinking this before work in the morning. mabel (2590), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Pours dark black with a brownish dark head. Beautiful coffee on the nose, chocolate, oatmeal and toffee. I could see having this for breakfast sometime. Full bodied. Nice and balanced if that is what you require from a big stout yes it is possible with this beer. Coffee on the front with the palate with really everything else in the nose tucked away in there. You also get oatmeal in the aftertaste as well. Wonderful stout and very highly recommended. MeisterBrew (138), Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA

Espresso, chocolate, and a hint of alcohol. Flavor is heavy on espresso, bitter chocolate rounds it out. Fantastic stout. I love it! So much better than Youngs. I just wish it was available locally. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 8, 2009 Very black with fresh coffee smell. Has some chocolaty aroma hints as well. Strong espresso taste that’s not too bad. Very good, but a little thin for a stout in my opinion. zizzybalubba (356), Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA

Pours black, color of motor oil with a 1/4 inch caramel head. Light hop aroma with hints of coffee. The aroma does not begin to prepare you for the flavors you are about to taste. Big coffee flavor with dark chocolate dominates. Finish lingers and is pleasant. Bested only by Speedway Stout and Espresso Oak Aged Yeti as far as coffee beers go.
