| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a touch of red and very thin light brown head. Aroma is Chocolate and coffee, a bit grainy and roasty. A hint of tobacco. Flavor is nice and roasty but not burnt, plenty of mocha. Very typical stout characteristics and not particularly unique, what makes it stand out is the remarkable balance that most stouts do not have. Full bodied and full of flavor but neither harsh nor cloying, it just hits that middle ground and makes for a great, enjoyable stout. Silky smooth with low carbonation. Slipstream (746), USA

Chocolate cake and bread aroma, with coffee and hops. Full bodied with rich coffee flavor. Oat smoothness and a chocolate taste comes into it too. A dash of peppy hop tingle completes the aftertaste. It could perhaps use a just a little more sweetness, but this is another excellent creation from Founders. trayns (240), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA

Pours that great black color with a thin tan head that can only mean an imperial stout. Smell of coffee and a little chocolate, some oatmeal texture throughout. Sweet malty falvor, nice strong taste that lasts and lasts. Great complex flavor and palate. chandler0201 (341), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Black pour with small tan head. Nice aroma of coffee, chocolate, some malts. Flavor of coffee and spices, think they slipped in some sugar or cinnamon granules for a gritty taste, but good. Strong and remarkable flavor overall. dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Sludges to the bottom of the glass with a black oily body and tan head. Nose is mostly roasted malt, chocolate, earth and a bit of a grainy nuance. Body is almost overwhelmingly a triple shot cafe au lait. I would refer to this as an Imperial Milk Stout. This is a great beer, hides the alcohol very well. tmoreau (542), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 6, 2009 On tap at Lunar Brewing-snifter served. Pours a thick, black/brown hue, with a foamy, tan head that reduces to a small ring but leaves some thick, clingy lace. The nose is dry, mocha, and dark roasted coffee. The flavor is a more intense version of the aroma, if that is possible... hop bitterness, espresso, and cocoa. Full bodied with a nice, creamy mouthfeel...like milk on your cocoa puffs, washed down with a cup of strong java! cmillward (428), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 5, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours black with almost no head, a slight tan ring around the glass. Huge coffee nose, rich with some chocolate backing it up. Very roasty, coffee/espresso flavor. Nice bitterness to balance this out, caramel sweetness apparent toward the end of the flavor. Low carb, drying and acidity from the coffee and the roastiness, silky mouthfeel.
