Commercial Description:
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

2008 Bottle - Thanks tjthresh! - Pours thick dk dk brown with a small tan had...aroma is char, coffee and roasted grain...flavour is fantastic, dry, malty but still maintains a burnt bitterness, finishes creamy with a fair amount of carbonation...all the coffee talk, but it isn’t overpowering...wow...

12 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with a ring of brown head that leaves some lace. Aroma is mostly coffee grounds with cocoa, scorched earth roastiness, and a little milk. Flavor is rich with bitter coffee, cocoa, heavily roasted malt and some sweeter creamy notes. Balances and finishes quite bitter. Full bodied, with a thick oaty palate and moderate carbonation. No real alcohol presence to speak of. Relatively easy drinking, but fat and rather assaulting on the senses, so you’d probably want a limited session. For what it is, a strong coffee stout, its quite good.

Poured thick dark black with a two-finger brown head. The aroma was malty with some coffee and chocolate notes. The flavor was coffee and chocolate notes with some light fruity esters and some bitterness from the coffee or chocolate. There was little hop character and I detected a bit of ash tray which I did not like. The mouthfeel is just awesome, thick and chewy, which really boosts this beer in my opinion. Very little medicinal character which I get a lot of times with these heavy stouts. Very drinkable but in no way a session beer, this is a one off dessert beer.

An interesting and complex take on the imperial stout, Founders mixes a bit of the kitchen sink of stouts, oatmeal, chocolate and coffee pile on the traditional malt bill of a stout. The flavor leaned heavily toward coffee, espresso character to me, with some nice lift from the oatmeal to keep the body together.

rating #300, bottle, pours thick black with a thin dark tan head. Aromas of coffee and dark chocolate dominate but are fairly light. Loads of coffee and expresso flavors and bitterness, some sweet chocolate and burnt malt. Nice mixture of flavors. The mouth is creamy and smooth with a light carbonation only felt in the finish. Finishes with a lingering expresso flavor. Tons of great flavor, and a great stout.

Pours a deep, deep black, although not as oily as KBS. Very enticing aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and alcohol. Very heavy flavors of dark chocolate and coffee. Some hop bitterness, as well as coffee bitterness. Good balance of sweetness from the malt and some hints of oats. Solid mouthfeel...very smooth, although could be a bit thicker for a stout of this flavor profile. Highly drinkable.
