Appears oily black with nice thick tan head. The aroma is of great coffee, chocolate, and dark roasted malts. The flavor is similar to the aroma, coffee, sweet malts, and bitter chocolate all balancing out very nicely. The mouthfeel is wonderfully thick, creamy, and warming. Overall, this is very fine beer. Not an overpowering impy stout, surprisingly easy drinking. Pours oily black with an explosive, foamy brown head. Aroma and flavour were full of bitter coffee and roasted malt, semisweet chocolate and a hint of sigar and cinnamon spice. RIch, creamy mouthfeel. I am a big fan. travita (1887), Frisco, Texas, USA

The look is black, really dark, with a camel hair colored head. The taste is roasty, coffee, chocolate, malts, and oatmeal. Very good. kopher (297), New York, USA

very long bittersweet malty finish
nice beer, though the bitterness from the coffee/malt is pretty intense soccer290 (135), Highland Park, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 18, 2009 Updated: May 27, 200912 oz bottle. Pours a coffee black color, very thick with a small tan head. Before I even leaned over to smell it, during the pour, I had this outburst of coffee smell engulfing my nose, which I love because I like coffee, but even this was a lot. You can tell just from the smell that you are dealing with a lot of coffee. The only downside is that coffee is the only thing you can get from it, not able to smell anything else. As it warms, more oat smells come out. The taste is of an extreme amount of coffee, kind of makes me think of what it would be like to chew on a coffee bean. There are very subtle hints of oatmeal, but it is over-powered by the coffee (which I personally enjoy). It is pretty smooth going down, as long as you can handle the coffee. Overall, an interesting take on Breakfast stout, but maybe they over-did it on the coffee part, as I was expecting more oatmeal too. timmy300 (199), bloomington, Illinois, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 17, 2009 The aroma is fantastic and could even set the standard for the style. It has coffee, chocolate, cream, burnt malt, hops, and molasses. The appearance is black with a small but nice tan head. The flavor is way to burnt and bitter with a acidic burnt coffee after taste. The palate is actually a little thin for the style. Overall its a beer worth having but in the end its not fantastic. Palidor19 (1762), Brandon, Florida, USA
