Aroma is unground espresso beans, roasted malts and oats with brown sugar and a light hint of cinnamon. Flavor a medium roast Ethiopian coffee with light notes of cinnamon and roasted malt. There is the bitterness of bittersweet chocolate present. Body is thick and yet not creamy, reminiscent of a rich cup of coffee with a bit of heavy cream. Carbonation is mild but present. Pretty good. WisconsinBeer (520), St Paul, Minnesota, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 9, 2009 This beer poured a motor oil black with a nice brown head to it and plenty of lacing. The smell of it was like a flavored coffee - lots of coffee, chocolate and spice. Very nice taste to this beer - for a double the alcohol did not overwhelm but was just right and the chocolate, coffee, nuttiness and malt made this an almost perfect beer. The mouthfeel was nice and creamy. I drank one of my favorite porters by another brewer after this beer and realized how much that beer paled in comparison to this one - this is a winner and will be regular in my beer fridge. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a thick black, with a very thin tan head. Coffee dominates the aroma - chocolate is also prominent. The flavor is complex - coffee dominates, then gives rise to chocolate and malts. The alcohol is barely detectable. Nice mouthfeel. An excellent stout, though very coffee-heavy, almost to the point of imbalance. abcfan (247), New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Very nice brew. Pours black with very little head. Strong coffee aroma/taste throughout. Very nice vanilla balance in the finish, but silky smooth gong down. Very easy drinking. Would drink again. markwise (1175), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 5, 2009 Thanks OTH Group for the share. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is straight up coffee, chocolate, cinnamon, chicory, and some noticeable vanilla. Flavor has lots of coffee, with some noticeable cinnamon spice, earthiness, and hop bitterness. Very good beer, but it leans very heavily on the coffee flavor. jeff789 (377), Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 4, 2009 Hugely complex.... Not as overbearing as most coffee stouts... The other flavors show up in every sip.... Amazing beer.... The nose is overpowered by the coffee, but the taste is not....
