Had a HUGE coffee aroma that completely filled the senses. However the flavor was surprisingly light and refreshing and the coffee didn’t overpower in the mouth or the throat. In the end I felt the a slight bit 1-dimensional, but true to the name. Quite a remarkable beer that doesn’t try to overpower just because it could. Truly a nice drink. nightrider (373), encinitas, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 30, 2008 Pour from the bottle revealed a dark black hue with a minimal tan head. Aromas of coffee and dark dark chocolate with a roasty smoky scent. Very smooth on your tongue. Biter cocoa, coffee and hops.Long finish to the beer with a predominant bitter hoppiness. Not as rich in complex flavors as I had hoped from such a renowned brew. Tasty overall though. kiefdog (1585), Tampa, Florida, USA
