| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Pours like oil with a frothy brownish-red head. Tons of coffee in the aroma, some nuttiness, deep dark chocolate notes, tons of roast and burnt malts- amazing nose. Flavor contains tons of coffee and chocolate, perfectly melded together with some oatiness and vanilla for a dessert-like quality. Some nice burnt bitterness and oily coffee notes at the finish. The slightest bit dry and fairly heavy in the palate. A bit sticky. Glorious beer. grandet (479), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Updated: Oct 21, 2008Mmmmmm, I finally get to try my first Founder’s product, and it’s their highest beer! This stuff is so good, it is very sweet, but has a black-coffee taste that is pure esspresso--like when you make coffee thick enough to have a deep black head, this is this beer. The body is very thin though, and the immediate flavor miasma that is founders breakfast stout dissipates VERY quickly on the tongue, which surprised me for one of the most highly revered beers of all time. Usually dark beers in the 100 percentiles are thick and chewy and black enough to make you bite your lips after only six ounces of drinking them, but this one’s thinner body and lack of astringency add an incredible drinkability, which I’m not sure that I like. Only because I’m going into this thinking--ok, -it better be heavier’n HELL! But it isn’t; it’s extremely balanced, oily, and flavorful, but the absurd ’’’’bigness’’’’ and ’’’’worldliness’’’’ is lacking in this one. I would still buy it everyday of my life it it was priced regularly. chimplechamp (463), Oslo, Norway

Aroma of bitter coffee, little else. Flavor picks it up with some cocoa to compliment, almost resulting in Starbuck’s mocha frappuccino. Rather thin body, milky roast lasting longest. Overall, one-sided and rather unimpressive. If I want coffee, I’ll put $5 towards good coffee. Otherwise, Speedway destroys this. GMCC2181 (856), Bear/Elkton, Delaware, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Bottle shared by wolf. Black in color, not much head. The aroma is spicey/tobassco and coffee. Taste is nice balanced coffee stout. Burnt malts, maybe a little tobasco. The texture was just average for a stout. No trace of alcohol. Overall a good stout but not great. Thanks wolf for sharing.
