fredandboboflo (1395), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 18, 2008 Bottle. Aroma strong of coffee, quite roasted coffee, some sweet alcohol, and some sort of sweet fruit, maybe black currant? Flavor again has that roasted coffee, some hop bitterness, but mostly bitterness from a malt that becomes increasingly charred although not overbearingly so for the most part. Didn’t really get the creamy, velvety feel others did as all that charred malt finished on the dry side with a strong but particularly noteworthy body. Very nice, but not wowing after that awesome coffee aroma. BMan1113VR (2755), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle thanks to mibirder. Ultra thick pour. Large rocky, dark brown head that leaves good lacing. Body is black as sin. Aroma is strong coffee, oatmeall, some vanilla and light chocolate. Taste is strong coffee, and finishes with bitterness from chocolate, and some oatmeal, as well as light tobbaco. Alcohol is well hidden. Creamy mouthfeel, light bubbles. sirpsycho (342), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours an almost black/brown, nice brown head. Aroma is subdued chocolate and coffee. Flavor hits you over the head with bitter chocolate and bitter, roasted coffee, but not bitter in a bad way. Malty and decadent. If your a coffee and chocolate lover, this ones for you. daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 15, 2008 Yep, Founders does it again!! Black pour with an ice brown head. Aroma is all coffe and chocolate. Flavor is thick and rich and is like biting in to a chocolate covered coffee bean. My goodness this one is good. glad I have another 6 to drink! Damn good stuff! kegbear (265), Orange, California, USA Aug 13, 2008 Thanks to KingpinIPA for this beer. Aroma of roasted coffee and black olives. Tastes of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Finishes a bit dry with a burnt coffee aftertaste. A reallt nice stout that is not too sweet and has a great mouthfeel. Would get again. nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Aug 8, 2008 Two 12oz bottles sampled at my Imperial Stout tasting. Pours a thick, oily, viscous black with a foamy, active tan head. Aroma is mostly coffee, from far away smells a little like a chocolate milkshake, other aroma of chocolate, caramel, and breakfast aromas like cinnamon toast. It’s sort of like you’re drinking a carbonated mocha which makes this a bizarre drinking experience compared with other imperial stouts and other coffee stouts. Dark coffee grounds, dark chocolate, caramel, chocolate syrup, coffee cake, sweet sugary icing, toast and again - chocolate milk shake. Very thick in the mouth and throat with a light coffee bitterness. The bottle says it all, "Double chocolate coffee oatmeal stout". That about covers everything. Not for the faint of heart, but also not as overwhelming as other Imperial Stouts. Hank1980 (732), Athens, Georgia, USA Jul 29, 2008 Beer from santa. Pours dark brown, with small tan head. Nose is of roasted chocolate, coffee, malt, oat. Taste is similar with dark chocolate, coffee, malt, nut, light alcohol, cream. Finish is lightly bitter. Mouth is creamy, smooth. Dedollewaitor (3622), Odense, Denmark Jul 28, 2008 22oz. Trade with TheEpeeist. Thanks. Pours pitch black with a large brown creamy lasting head. Nose is fresh & of roasted coffee & chocolate. Delicious!. Taste is like Damm... Roast, vanilla, milky chocolate, nuts & coffee. Slick, velvet, oily, smooth & sticky. Handsome lacings down the side. Heavy roasted coffee & oat notes. Cant do nothing but smile right now. Long end . . . . . Superior!!!
