dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 14, 2008 12oz bottle courtesy polomagnifico. Pours black with a thick tan head. Big silky oatmeal coffee aroma that is just beautiful. Chocolate, coffee, oatmeal, silky smooth with a slight bitterness. Really a nicely balanced stout that combines some great flavors of coffee and chocolate. An awesome stout. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jun 5, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Sparky27.
Thanks for this one.
Pours an amazing viscous black with 2 fingers of deep brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, barley. Flavor is silky chocolate, coffee and a surprising amount of hop bitterness. Very well done Imperial Stout. YUM! gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 2, 2008 Updated: Jun 4, 2008Bottle, courtesy the handsome Gilliard. Pours black, with a hazy ring of creamy head and tons of lacing. Giant heaps of roasted malts pound the nostrils with coffee and chocolate, too. Love it. Roasted malts and coffee in the flavor too (surprise!) and everything finishes with a nice hoppy end. Immensely drinkable and easy to put down. There’s nothing insanely unique here, just another very well-crafted imperial stout. Duker (2), San Francisco, California, USA does not count May 14, 2008 Phenominal! one of the best beers i have ever had. It has the hearty feeling of a stout but a tinge of sweetness. I can’t believe such a small brewery in my college town could make such an exceptional brew! TRY IT! TBone (6675), Pori, Finland May 14, 2008 Bottled (vintage 2005?)
Pitch black, huge brown creamy-cloudy head, lots of lace. Dark roasted malty aroma with tobacco and some chocolate. Full-bodied - heavy, coffee and pipe tobacco overdose. Tarry finish. Soft palate. Some hops in the aftertaste. This is not a beer for fast drinkers! oh6gdx (8798), Vasa, Finland May 14, 2008 Bottled (thanks jjpm74!). Pitch black colour, big brown bubbly head that takes it’s while before settling. Nice lace. Aroma is roasted malts, tobacco, smoke, coffee, chocolate and mild hints of vanilla. Flavour is tobacco, coffee, chocolate and some bittering hops. Coffee and some acidic notes in the aftertaste. A very pleasant brew. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA May 11, 2008 Bottle courtesy Gillard. Pours black with a small tan head that fades to a ring leaving some lacing. Aroma of coffee, licorice, roasted malt, caramel, oats, dark chocolate, and a hint of dark fruit. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness and well hidden alcohol. Very good. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 10, 2008 Updated: Jul 8, 2008Draft rating. Draft > Bottle, no question. The blurb is right other then coffee bender this is the closest thing to a serious cup of joe. Better is loaded with roasty coffee, bitter and black, yet sweet with oats and chocolate. A very delicate balance and is truly incredible on draft and great out of the bottle.
