Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 3, 2008 Bottle courtesy of unclejedi. Pours a deep opaque black with a 2 finger chocolate brown head that fades into a thin top layer. Nice lacing. Nose is roasted coffee beans, cocoa and bakers chocolate. Palate is a lot like it smells - chocolaty coffee but with a touch of oatmeal at the end. Slight bitter finish. Creamy mouth feel. A great stout. Right up there with my favorites of the style. Magicdave6 (5383), London, Greater London, England Apr 1, 2008 Bottle at shack of party banter dance-off. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, fruity, cigars, good quality coffee. Taste however is too intence and really difficult to swallow as it goes on. A bit upsetting as the aroma was quite acceptable. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA Mar 31, 2008 Deep black with a thin tan head. Rich, sweet toasted malt aroma, with dark fruits and molasses. Taste is also very rich and malty, with a lot of molasses flavor as well as big coffee and chocolate notes. Lingering sweet and bitter malt taste. A rich, delicious imperial stout. M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Mar 31, 2008 Bottle at Magic dave6’s disco dance tasting. Black, thick brown head. Nose is overbrewed coffee, milky, masses of espresso, really bitter. Mouth is coffee, roasted, milk chocolate. Bitter all the way through. Good. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy of santoslhalper. Great nose to this one. Rich, smoky, chocolate and coffee. Vanilla and molasses, light Tootsie Roll. Mild acidity with alcohol vapors, and a sour tang. Very nice. A glass of Stygian darkness with chocolately thin lacing head. Full oily body with medium carbonation, liquid velvet. Starts rich and chocolatey, with smoky toasted malt, vinuous acidity, molasses and coffee, burnt smoky acidity. Tootsie Rolls and vanilla. Leaves a nutty burnt bitter chalkyness on the tongue, with a bit of alcoholic warming and sweet creme de cafe finish. Light smoky coffee after with perfect balance of bitterness and lingering sweetness. This is a really nice impy stout. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Mar 30, 2008 Updated: May 25, 2008Bottle at Toms Glasgow tasting 2 ...
