Commercial Description:
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

12oz bottle. Pours midnight black with a big creamy deep tan head, great lacing. The nose first hits you with fresh coffee followed by cocoa dust. Flavor is very chocolaty a good amount of coffee and toasted malts to back things up. Finish is bittersweet chocolate and quite creamy. A little more coffee in this one than I was expecting, damn good overall.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass produced a frothy, cinnamon-colored head that lasts and a dark brown, almost black body. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. The taste is a wonderful mixture of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate with a touch of bitterness in the finish. A most delicious stout.

Bottle. A jet-black, oily pour with a thin mocha head. Loads of RICH, roasty coffee, chocolates, and caramel maltiness in the pungent aroma. Grapefruits are apparent as it warms up a bit. Full-bodied and pretty smooth. The flavor starts off with a bit of sweet caramel and milk chocolate and quickly transitions to a bitter dark chocolatiness. A further bitter finish with loads of roasted coffee qualities. Some citrus at the end too. I’m a little disappointed with this beer. It took me so long to finally have the opportunity to try this and I kept building this beer up in my head, almost putting it up on a pedestal. In the meantime, I’ve had plenty of other coffee-ish impy stouts and this just doesn’t (or couldn’t) live up to my expectations. Whatever. Rating #700 biatch!!!

Bottle courtesy of Oslo, Ratebeer tasting under the Bridge 12/9. Ebony body and small tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and coffee. Taste is dark chocolate, bitter roasted coffee, a little oats and a bit of nuttiness. Top notch, i wish i had another to try for brekky.

Very nice overall, but not as good I thought it would be based on ratings.

12 ox bottle. OK, so I was in Wisconsin visiting my folks and figured I must pick up a bottle to see if this really lives up to its name. As I poured the beautiful blackness I could smell the coffee permeate the air. As I dug my nose in deeper, you can really appreciate the hints of chocolate, roasted malts, and a slight sweetness. Flavor is made only for true beer lovers and I felt slightly guilty that I was not really worthy to rate such a complex beer. Flavor is blended so well with coffee, oats, and chocolate. A slight bitterness in the finish and just enough warming to make one truely fall in love this beer.

A Rolls Royce of an imperial stout, smooth, refined, sophisticated. Creamy mouthfeel. Coffee, chocolate and alcohol - what’s not to like? A sweet impy and very moreish. Would love to have regular access to this one in winter. (Bottle courtesy of Oslo - thanks buddy - at the Milson Point park session September 09)
