Ungstrup (11136), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 18, 2005 A black beer with a nice brown head. The aorma is roasted and with notes of coffee. The flavor is dry and very roasted and notes of coffee and bitter chocolate. Thanks to MadsBerg for sharing this magnificent beer. omhper (10456), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 15, 2005 Updated: Mar 9, 2005Bottled. Extremely black. Lots of everything in here. There’s massive coffee, molasses and salty licoricve. It’s very malty with dense, rich, creamy, almost oily mouthfeel. Lingering very bitter finish. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 23, 2005 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Completely pitch-black and opaque with a brownish head. Odd - but not unpleasant - vinous nose. Flavours are very vinous too, delicate roasted malt - and lots of it - with dried fruits as well. Pronounced coffee notes. Ends somewhat ashy. Nice indeed. 170705 Oakes (6853), Miami Beach, Florida, USA May 19, 2005 Updated: Jun 19, 2005Murky very dark brown. Very coffeeish aroma, like cold-ass Tim Horton’s. Blech. You go into a good coffee bean shop, something like Casa Acoreana in Kensington Market. You smell the beans, it’s wonderful. Nothing at all like this beer. Massive coffee flavour, very green and vegetal. Hint of chocolate. Big and thick, but simple. The coffee bludgeons everything with its vegetal harshness. Probably the most overrated beer I’ve ever had. yespr (6373), Copenhagen O, Denmark Feb 22, 2008 Updated: Feb 23, 200812 fl oz bottle, with twist off, thanks to Storm. Pours dark brown with a lacing light brown head. Thick coffee aroma, dense. Flavour is sweet malty with a distinct coffee note into a dry bitter finish. Lacks all the smoothness that the Bourbon version has. Coffee and beer - mix. Nice hardroasted coffee.
