Mud brown colour. Healthy head. Smells oaky with chocolate and coffee flavours. Really strong taste of coffee and chocolate. Malty. Smooth, creamy for a long-time. Ends a bit sharper--then dries up. Very nice. Would get higher score if choco/coffee wasn’t so overpowering and had more prounounced texture. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA

Nose is espresso and bitter chocolate. Big, beautiful bitter chocolate flavor, black coffee, sweet caramel/toffee. Lots going on here! Body actually seemed to thicken up as it warmed, to a satiny mouthfeel. Bitter, bitter chocolate finish. Simply awesome! Thanks Kevin! travita (1910), Frisco, Texas, USA

Not being a huge fan of stout or coffee I wasn’t sure how I would like this. Aroma is almost overpoweringly of freshly brewed coffee. The flavour is well balanced with sweet malt, burnt malt flavours and lots of coffee and chocolate. Smooth and very well balanced, excellent - beer of the night for me. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Thanks to OhioDad for this brew. Aroma is a ton of coffee, butterscotch, caramel, chocolate, with a hint of hazelnut. Body is black, no head forms. Taste is coffee, chocolate and caramel. Pretty good brew, but could use a thicker body. jeffc666 (1891), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Nov 29, 2004 Pours a huge thick oily mass with a dark tan, almost espresso crema head. The aroma just keeps the coffee analogy going; huge coffee, chocolate aroma. Simply stunning aroma. The flavor is equally huge, tons and tons of fresh coffee compliments the chococlate. Bitterness is pronounced and very nice combined with the coffee and chocolate flavors. The palate is thick and full with a moderately dry bitter finsih. An exceptional stout. Possible one of the best coffee/chocolate stouts I have ever had. Lots of times the coffee flavor can be off-putting but the way this one is put together it is incredibly enjoyable. ucusty (1887), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA
