Pours thick and black with a small tan head that quickly fades to a hazy cover. The aroma is incredible, lots of chocolate, coffee and molases. The flavor is rich and decadant, bitter dark chocolate covering espresso beans. The mouthfeel is soft and silky with a long, bitter finish. 11026 (1772), Alabama, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 21, 2004 Bottle. Deep black color after a very thick pour. Scant brownish head. Big aroma coming off of this one. Coffee, chocolate and oatmeal can all be pulled out. Medium to full bodied. Coffee is all throughout the taste. Chocolate gives a sharp bitterness, oatmeal tones that down a little. Next mission, get a four pack of this delight. blipp (1766), Newark, New Jersey, USA

The aroma has rich roasted coffee, hazelnut, toasted oats, and just a hint of chocolate. Smooth, heavy body. The flavor has roasted coffee, roasted oats, charred wood, some dark chocolate bittersweetness, and roasted chestnuts. It finishes with a nice roasted and lightly hoppy bitterness. Very delicious. Dangerously drinkable. sneagrams3 (1762), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jan 16, 2006 12z bottle. Sweet coffee and bittersweet chocolate notes are abundant immediately upon opening. Opaque black with a slight ring of tan head. Definite coffee nose, but also a mild sweet raisiny aroma. Sweet malts hit you a split second before the coffee and bitter chocolate dominate the flavor. Finishes up with a toasty graininess. This is a great beer, but since I’m not a coffee drinker, one is definitely enough...for tonight! And whenever the occasion arises for early morning libations, this one is at the top of the list. This is also a prime example of a sweet stout. All of the bitterness is present in the malt. Not too much of a hop note can be detected. Which is just fine with me, bring on the malts! I love the concept of caffeine in a beer to keep you awake so you can drink more! Bloody geniuses! Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

Not much head but good lacing over a dark, viscous body. Taste does not dissapoint, big sticky body with HUGE coffee taste. Nice roastedness through the finish. Could certainly use more hops/bitterness, but a great beer for sure. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 8, 2004 Jet black body, dark brown head. Effervescent aroma, reminds me of mint but I think it’s the oils from coffee beans. The flavor focuses on the coffee bitterness but has a good backbone of chocolate with oatmeal smoothness. plovmand (1737), Helsinge, Denmark

A pitch black beer with a creamy foreverlasting mocca coloured head. Awesome! As soon as I open the bottle cocoa and coffee hits my nose. In the glass its doubled and its mixed with a pleasant roastiness. Awesome! In the mouth its creamy and smooth. Awesome! The flavour is not as in-your-face as you see with lots of american Impy stouts. The coffee is very dominating with chocolate and roasted malts at the side of it. A bitter espresso like finish ends this beauty of a beer. Awesomeness! 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA

Aroma is full of coffee and sweet chocolates. its alot smoother than the bigger stouts, chocolates are lighter, coffee is heavier, its pretty damn good, i dont know how this is in the top 50 and witch doctor is not though.
