Cookie dough head rings a bubbling espresso center. Settles to a wafer. Bittersweet chocolate, oatmeal cookie, dusty coffee beans and dark fruits. Chocolate liquor with some herbal notes. Sours leaving coffee and lime peel. Medium plus body with a little carb. Smooth and rich without being heavy. Mmmmm! Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2005 Deep, rich black with an thin, espresso-color head. Intense aroma of burnt coffee, charcoal briquettes, roasted black malt, dark, bitter cocoa, sweet caramel, bitter hops and a touch of warming alcohol. The body is thick, smooth and chewy but the carbonation is almost non-existent, which detracts from the beer. The flavor is superb with a lot of burnt, roasted bitterness and balanced ever-so-slightly by the caramel and residual malts. A bit more carbonation to round out the flavors and offer a velvety body would improve this immensely. This could be tweaked, in my opinion, to achieve even greater heights. An excellent, delicious stout that could be tops in it’s class. dmac (1451), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Where should I start with this beauty? Poured a dark black with a nice light brown head that lasted. Aroma was tar, coffee, chocolate, tobacco. It reminded me of a chocolate ash tray with an unlit cigar resting on it. Palate was oily smooth despite being very thick. Flavor was tobaco, coffee and some chocolate. This stuff is beyond good, if I could buy this locally I might not ever keep anything else in my fridge. SuIIy (1449), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

Smells of roasty, toasty oats and dry chocolate. The taste is phenominal. Super deep in chocolate, but also a hint of coffee and caramel. Amazing beer. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Lots of coffee in the aroma. Reminds me of Bunn coffee pot of coffee. Roasted, burnt, nice. Coffee in the flavor with roasted, toasted, and nutty malts. Creamy palate. Burnt finish. Thanks to the guy pouring, I drank a lot of full pours of this fine brew. GreatLibations (1441), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 1, 2007 Mhmm!, Thas what I’m talkin’ bout’. This is as extreme as it gets. Brew pours black w/ a shallow creamy froth. Recedes to reveal a few craters in it’s canopy, like looking in on an ancient world of blackness. Decent lacing. Aromas of heavily roasted coffee and bitter cocoa. Full nectar w/ soft residual effers. The texture is like melted chocolate. It just clings to my palate secreting into every mucus membrain. It’s so thick it chokes me. Thick malts w/ a heavy roast component. Chunky bitter cocoa, heavily roasted coffee bean, charred cakebread, leather, iodine, pepper, and citrus rind. Trace elements of black cherry and vanilla bean. The hop factor is moderate and mingles w/ the roast perfectly. The hops grab my attention at midpalate and digs in. The finish is decadent and long on flavor w/ a moderate bittering by velvety citrus rind. There is a ever-so-slight souring component here also. Very thick and chewy. Stand a spoon up in it. dchmela (1440), Orlando, Florida, USA

Big silky oatmeal coffee aroma that is just beautiful. Chocolate, coffee, oatmeal, silky smooth with a slight bitterness. Really a nicely balanced stout that combines some great flavors of coffee and chocolate. An awesome stout.
