Nice rich coffe flavor, with some nice dark malt character, moderate roast. Very nice mouthfeel. I think I’d like a darker roast coffee in here, as it’s a bit sweet in the finish. I like this quite a bit, but its not top 50 for me. Thanks Dan! MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 29, 2005 12oz - Aroma is thick with coffee, chocolate, and brunt malt. Black body with a very small brown head that quickly disappears leaving little lacing. An overwhelming brunt coffee flavor that leaves a ’bottom of the mocha’ chocolate aftertaste. Smooth oil slick palate rounds out this tasty brew. Not for the weak of palate. JCW (1262), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Smells like coffee with one or two lumps of sugar. Black as Labrador retriever. Yes, one dimensional, but a dimension I REALLY appreciate. Very, little acidity(something I didn’t like about this years Speedway Stout). Sweet finish, exceptional stout. JaBier (1261), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Oct 25, 2008 Sampled at the stout tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 10/13/08. Pours pitch black with a minimal head. Aroma is coffee, coffee, coffee and a little bit of chocolate. Flavor is pretty much the same. Pretty good hop balance and an outstanding all around brew. Pours very dark but not as thick as some imperial stouts. For a sweet stout, however, this is definitely the darkest and thickest pour I’ve ever had.
It smells like chocolate, oatmeal and fresh ground coffee beans (fresh off of the bushes of the Kona Coffee Company). The first impression is very thick but overwhelmingly much like straight black coffee. After getting past that, there is a slight taste of chocolate and oatmeal (no suprise there) with some subtle liquid smoke. Initially it comes across as too bitter but eventually mellows into something more enjoyable. By the time it starts to fade, the balance of flavors is perfect. I don’t know that I would have this one that often because of the taste but I can see why it is so highly rated. durhambeer (1224), Durham, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 20, 2008 Thick, heavy dark pour with bubbly dark tan head. Head disappears disappointing quickly, but some lingers on top of a what appears to be a very heavy beer. Strong aromas of bitter chocolate, expresso, toffee sweetness, and oatmeal. The beer drinks as thick as it looks... truly one to savor on the palate. Same tastes as aromas, with added roastiness and tasty hops. For all its intensity, it’s really a lovely beer. waolsen (1223), Littleton, Colorado, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2005 Black with a small tan head. Big time aroma of dark roasted coffee, roasted malts and dark chocolate. Initial flavor is of the coffee, then the roasted malts and
dark chocolate. Some smokiness. Great mouthfeel with a very dry finish. Thanks to Flemdawg for the trade!
