dark chocolate. Some smokiness. Great mouthfeel with a very dry finish. Thanks to Flemdawg for the trade! footbalm (1219), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 26, 2005 Bottle thanks to styles: This pours to a thick, oily, opaque dark brown with a small, thick creamy brown head. The nose is dominated by roasted coffee beans, chocolate, and dark roasted malt. There’s hints of vanilla, floral hops, and soil in here too. It’s increadibly thick and creamy on the palate, with mild carbonation. Bitter roasted coffee hits my tongue first, followed by dark chocolate and lots of darkly roasted malt. There’s also some notes of burnt or smoked wood, vanilla, oats, very mild spicy hops, espresso, and chalk with just a hint of alcohol near the end. The finish is super smooth and silky with lots of roasted coffee and roasted malt, with a slight hint of vanilla and wood lingering towards the very end. Zinister (1207), Houston, Texas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 17, 2008 Much thanks to kryptic and theisti for this bottle. Super dark pour with creamy mocha head and soft lacing. Nose is a dead lock of roasted, almost burnt, coffee with some softer oatmeal in the background. Full bodied mouthfeel with a rich creamy body. Big coffee flavors, maybe too one-dimensional?, along with dark chocolate and roasted malts. Bitter finish that shows the hops. Very nice and would be great with some pancakes and bacon. markwise (1200), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 5, 2009 Thanks OTH Group for the share. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is straight up coffee, chocolate, cinnamon, chicory, and some noticeable vanilla. Flavor has lots of coffee, with some noticeable cinnamon spice, earthiness, and hop bitterness. Very good beer, but it leans very heavily on the coffee flavor. SDalkoholic (1198), Chula Vista, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 1, 2005 Bottle courtesy of BBB63. Pitch black stout with small amount of head created. Aroma is sweet of chocolate and coffee added with creamer. In the flavor, huge serving of chocolate paired with dark roast malt that also gives off a strong coffee like flavor. A notice of oats in the background and is a quite dry. Alcohol content is masked and very well making this a fantastic breakfast stout. GAManiac (1196), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 28, 2008 Pours jet black with a minimal tan head. Very little head retention with decent lacing. Serious roasted coffee aroma with chocolate complements. Got a little bit of malty sweetness in there as well. Very nice aroma just invites me into this one. Big roasted coffee taste with the slightest hint of dark chocolate malts and hops. Hops and coffee lead to a fairly bitter aftertaste. Oily and thick mouthfeel with minimal carbonation that causes a bit of tingling on the tongue. I would view this as a good, but not great stout. The heavy coffee and bitterness make it a bit less balanced than the aroma might indicate.
