Aromas of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and a bit of booze. Flavor wise, it’s all coffee upfront before a mellow malt, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, oatmeal and herbal hop push from mid-sip to finish. Heavy bodied without being cloying or lifeless. Very nice. ericandersnavy (1131), crossroads, Texas, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 5, 2008 Thanks to ogglethorp for this little gem. I really can’t imagine a beer having a better aroma. Big bitter sweet chocolate and roasted coffee. Flavor is much the same, great little snap of hoppy goodness on the finish. Nice creamy mouthfeel with a big chuncky texture. What a BEER! doubleo (1121), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2008 Pours black as the night from the bottle with a thin dark brown head that dissipates quickly. Smells like coffee grounds and dark chocolate to me. Tastes like the blackest coffee you ever had, with a hint of chocolate. Tastes much better than it smells as far as the coffee goes. Palate is good, not too thick at all, nice carbonation. Not bad, as for a coffee flavored stout though, I’d go with Speedway anyday over this. NobleSquirrel (1120), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 26, 2005 Updated: Mar 13, 2005Notoriously dark, deep brown and red staring back at me with an almost non-existent head. Beautiful. Smells wonderfully of roast malt followed by rich coffee and chocolate to round it out. A bit of molasses as well in the nose. Taste is initially of black coffee with a hint of sugar and then some chocolate. Could use a little bit more carbonation, however. Taste has some fruit in the finish as well. Overall, a good beer. jeremytoni (1116), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA

Kicks ass in just about every way. Had a argument with Honkeybra about whether or not it was top 50. I was wrong. Lotsa coffee flavor, with lotsa beer. Aw yeah.
Re-rate. Was a little too drunk and tired to rate this one properly before, and she’s aged about 5 months since. Crushed with Jakebra. Rush of chocolate and coffee on the nose. Awesome. Flavor is more coffee with a big rush of bittering hops in the finish. A little thin-bodied. Not sure if it’s as good as Founder’s Imperial Stout, but even so, great brew.
