The blurb is right other then coffee bender this is the closest thing to a serious cup of joe. Better is loaded with roasty coffee, bitter and black, yet sweet with oats and chocolate. A very delicate balance and is truly incredible on draft and great out of the bottle. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Oct 20, 2008 Pours like oil with a frothy brownish-red head. Tons of coffee in the aroma, some nuttiness, deep dark chocolate notes, tons of roast and burnt malts- amazing nose. Flavor contains tons of coffee and chocolate, perfectly melded together with some oatiness and vanilla for a dessert-like quality. Some nice burnt bitterness and oily coffee notes at the finish. The slightest bit dry and fairly heavy in the palate. A bit sticky. Glorious beer. JugOPunch (77), Nashua, New Hampshire, USA

Great aroma with bitter coffee up front and nice mellow chocolate in the finish. A rich dark malty flavor of more chocolate and toasty sweetness that is perfectly balanced. This stout really impresses with a full creamy and velvety mouthfeel. It reminded me of a good chocolate malt but with the necessary mix of coffee bitterness. Near perfection. Get your A$$ to Grand Rapids and buy some Founders. This beer is everything it should be and more: its got roasted coffee, dark bitter chocolate, mollasses, malt flavor, oats and then more coffee. Its very thick and filling - truly an amazing beverage. jj21 (84), Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, USA

S:Hints of chocolate, coffee and caramel
T:Wow! Bitter chocolate taste with caramel and a powerful espresso flavor.
M:Thick full beer. Very heavy on the palate
D:Very drinkable. Grownup hot chocolate!
Suggestion: I ate a chocolate covered caramel candy while drinking this and it was incredible. The best Stout I’ve had...yet.

Smells like a cup of fresh roasted coffee. The mouthfeel is so soft and the finish has no alcoholic bite at all. This is like a cup of to dark coffee and chocolate. Taste is intense roasted with a lasting chocolately finish. It does not get much closer to perfect than this. Phatz (225), Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 6, 2006 Appearance: Pours a thick opaque black with a creamy tan head.
Smell: The aroma is packed with coffee chocolate nuts toffee and many more roasted malt scents.
Taste: Take a glass and fill if half full with rich melted milk chocolate, and fill the rest up with a gourmet coffee and add a healthy serving of whole cream. mmm. Oh there is a shot of booze in it too. That is the best I can describe the creamy chocolate sensational experience.
Mouthfeel: Sheer silky velvety smooth cream, has a big feel to it but everything about this beer is extremely approachable, and divinely pleasant.
Drinkability: Give me case of this stuff. You would never know its 8.30% ABV it is so easy!
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!
