Commercial Description:
You’ve got to love coffee to truly appreciate this phenomenal brew. Brewed with an abundance of flaked oats, bitter and sweetened imported chocolates, Sumatra and Kona coffee. We’re actually not sure if this is some type of coffee cake or a beer. Either way you can drink this ale with a fork. Breakfast Stout has an intense fresh roasted coffee nose toped with a cinnamon colored frothy head that seems to never fade and makes you wish breakfast could last forever.

Pours opaque with well retained dark tan colored head. Aroma is very rich with heavily roasted coffee beans, and a bit of hops. Flavor is really rich and very expresso like with a delicous and judicous use of hops in the finish. Nice bit of dark choclate as well. Mouthfeel is thick and velvety without going overboard. As a coffee lover, this is almost perfect.

XBF05: Black with a small tan head. Huge roasted coffee with a touch of chocolate aroma, wow forget drinking coffee, I’m going to drink this in the morning. Full bodied with an oily texture and average carbonation, starts and ends bitter.

Houston, beer drinker here, we have a winner! Deep, dark chocolate aroma, burnt coffee and roasted malts. Probably the blackest, most opaque brew I have seen in awhile. No light passing through this bad boy. Unfortunately, the head was non-existent on mine (all Founders’ caps seem to slip off). The taste is similar to the nose, but the black licorice flavors and chewing gum maltiness definately hop along for the ride. Slight bitterness and cinnamon on the finish. 8.3%? Lookout, becuase one could drink a few of these. A delightful beverage, that is for sure. Many thanks to Silphium for this tastemonster.

On tap at the Rotten Apple in Grafton. What a delicious beer! The coffee jumps out of the aroma and it stays consistent throughout the glass. Flavor is full of coffee, roasted nut, and dark chocolate with just a hint of hop. I found it to be amazingly smooth and just so easy to drink. This is a full bodied beer and is the classic "meal in a glass." Give me seconds!

My first week back from a medical leave and the bar has Breakfast Stout on draft. Boo-YAH! I missed the rush to try Founders imperial stout when it first came out. Man, I missed out. Full bodied stout that hits you with flavors of coffee, chocolate, and oats blended perfectly together. Drinkable, enjoyable and a masterpiece of a brew.

Pours a thick dark black with a nice creamy dark brown head that leaves a sticky lacing in my glass. Fresh ground coffee and chocolate aromas, bitter coffee and chocolate flavors, full bodied with a thick, smooth and creamy mouthfeel, almost like a chocolate shake. Nice lasting chocolate aftertaste, this is one awesome stout.

This pours out of the bottle like motor oil and a brown head appears like paint on black velvet. The aroma in this beer was hypnotic. Chocolate, maple syrup, creasote, roast coffee beans, tabacco all wafted up at me from my snifter. It is worth this beer just to smell it. Very thick, creamy velvet smooth mouthfeel. This is definitly a coffee beer with nice chocolate notes and some caramel sweetness. The alcohol rides comfortably in the middle of this beer without being too prominent. Nice bitter finish of coffee and hops. Really a great sipping beer.

Black color, completely opaque, with a dark brown head. The aroma was pure COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE...some chocolate came in late in the aroma, but this thing is all about the coffee (wonderfully so.) The flavor was full-on roasty coffee, dark chocolate, slight metallic tones, and some burnt wood. The feel was quite crisp (more so than I had expected) with a semi-dry feel. Thanks BBB63!
