Mouth-watering and complex aroma of espresso beans, roast, some burnt phenolics, chocolate, and spice. Flavor is like an intense, robust cup of the best coffee you could ever have. Has a lot more dimensions than most coffee beers. Lingers for a long and enjoyable eternity. Perfect fullness and texture. I like this better than AleSmith Speedway Stout. This is a great experience and has to be the world’s best beer with a twist-off cap. Thanks for sharing, Eric!

Dark mohagany color, thin tan head. Rich, intense flavor of chocolate, coffee, caramel, malt, light fruitiness, and faint hops in the finish, with a lingering roasty bitter end. All of the flavors blend wonderfully, with none standing out being dominant. Extremely full bodied, smooth and creamy. One of the best stouts I’ve had, without a doubt. I need to stock up for the winter! presario (2994), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 21, 2005 Regular strong stout aroma. Even sounds good in the pour. Black with lasting thin islands of foam. Like drinking a cloud. Maybe the perfect stout flavour. Beautiful smooth. A touch of fruit. Additional coffee and sweet chocolate. Smells like coffee with one or two lumps of sugar. Black as Labrador retriever. Yes, one dimensional, but a dimension I REALLY appreciate. Very, little acidity(something I didn’t like about this years Speedway Stout). Sweet finish, exceptional stout. joshpiledean (227), Ames, Iowa, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 7, 2009 Appearance: black, brown head. Aroma: chocolate, coffee, dark roasted barley. Very nice. Flavor: Starts with strong coffee, light chocolate. Some alcohol. Ends with tasty, lightly bitter chocolate, slightly chalky finish. Body: Appropriate, maybe a bit thin.
Outstanding stout. Pailhead (2597), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 11, 2005 Bottle: Real big and real nice roasted coffee and chocolate aromas. Pours a motor oil looking black with a dark tan head that last a minute or so. Okay lacing. Malty up front with chocolate that is quickly overtaken by a big roasted coffee finish. Chocolate flavors barely stay alive in the finish, just barely linger in the background. Moderate coffee aftertaste. Whoever mentioned that this is similar to an iced coffee drink hit the nail on the head. Great coffee flavors and not just bitter black coffee flavor. The more I drink this, the more I wish I would have picked up a four pack for myself instead of just a single for me and a 4-pack for wolhfs. Listed as the #1 stout on the site and deservedly so. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 26, 2007 "double chocolate coffee oatmeal stout." Already, I like it. Pours black, with a very small brown head. Looks like a less heady Expedition almost. Deep aroma of coffee (a very bold "bean" smell, not a weak brewed coffee), dark chocolate, milk and sourdough toast. I taste the strong black coffee first, with a lot of chocolate and caramel swirling around as equal players. More coffee-y than any other coffee beer I’ve had yet. Finishes with a strong roast flavor and the bitterness is all black coffee, toast, nuts, and a medium acidity. It’s coffee finish, rather than hops, but perhaps the hops only emphasize the coffee. Either way, this is a great stout. Very strong on the coffee flavors, but it’s not like that’s all that’s here. I can see why not everyone would enjoy that, but I think it tastes great, and fits in with the rest of the flavor profile.
