Nov 22, 2004 strong espresso aroma, black with a reddish brown head, awesome full body with dominating dry espresso flavors, richer than scrooge mcduck with hints of currants, absolute decadence, didn’t lose too much from the tap version to the bottled version either

Feb 12, 2005 Poured a black with small brown head. Coffee and roasted chocolate malt aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Nice roasted coffee and chocolate flavor. Excellent stuff.

Jul 18, 2005 Dark brown color with a huge light brown head. Aroma is double chocolate fudge. Flavor is rich sweet dark chocolate, a hint of coffee and a lightly bitter nutty finish. Palate is rich, smooth and creamy.

Jul 11, 2005 Updated: Mar 24, 20062005 RBSG Montreal Friday Night Tasting. Keg. Very dark brown colour with a fully lasting creamy tan coloured head. Big coffee/cappacino, and chocolate aroma with some nutty and lightly fruity notes. Big expresso, chocolate and roasty flavours. Creamy and full bodied. Good stuff.

Feb 28, 2005 This was a very good beer but a little too coffee-like for me. Regardless, it was well worth trying and a great choice for all those stout drinkers.

Feb 19, 2005 If stouts were my thing, I’d be rolling around like a pig in slop with this one . . . over the top in its own stouty way, ridiculous amounts of coffee character in here. Pours thick, goes down thick, smells boggy murky thick, sounds thick, the full 5-senses thick. A real punisher in the appearance: just get a bunch of chunky-looking suds to sneer at the wary. There must be just a hateful level of carbs in here. Alcohol presence obvious but well-overwhelmed by all the other shit. Kudos to Founders for pushing the limits of the remotely reasonable; on another corner of the beer spectrum is its trillion-IBU Devil Dancer. If you fall head over heals for stout, put this in strong 9/10 territory. For those hop-junkies shivering, naked, over in that grimy, piss-stained corner, it’s an 8.5.

Feb 4, 2005 here we go, #1100! Thanks to Wolhfs for sending this beer my way. pours almost completely black with a small light brown head. a little red tinge at the surface of the beer. Chocolate, burnt grain husks, toasted oats, rasins, rum, carmel, butterscotch, char, and hazelnut coffee in the aroma. Holy crap! lots of dark chocolate flavors in this one. Rich roast, burnt with tons of coffee. Solid palate, but never becomes imperial by any means. Alcohol is never detected. A little metallic on the finish. Another winner from the stoutland (aka Michigan).
