12oz. Bottle. Have heard many good things and am pleased to say that it lives up to its billing. Jet black color with a nicely lacing layer of tan froth. Nose is predominantly espresso with some hints of bitter chocolate underneath. Big roasted flavor that is not for the faint of heart. Can’t really taste the oatmeal, but you can feel it in the texture which has a velvety creaminess. Surprisingly this beer is also very bitter and not at all sugary or sweet. Layered beneath the huge coffee grind roast character are traces of dark chocolate, charred caramel and mint. Finishes with a dry, lingering and slightly bitter flourish that makes you crave the next sip. Alcohol is extremely well disguised throughout and is pretty much unnoticeable even as the beer warms up. Love the kid on the bottle, makes me want to try this in my Cheerios tomorrow.

Dec 9, 2009 A beautiful beer. Very dark with a mocha colored head that lasts forever. The nose is all roasted malt and espresso. The flavors are incredibly layered, roast malt, coffee, dark fruits. It’s hard to imagine so much flavor that well balanced. Finish is dry and then a kind of time-release effect: a few seconds after you drink, there’s a burst of rich roastiness. Wow, why didn’t I buy more of this?

Dec 8, 2009 Wow. I know they say you’re supposed to drink this fresh when it’s super-coffee, but I left it sit 6 weeks, and the coffee has lost its abrasiveness and the chocolate is sublime. The mouthfeel is unreal. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to rate. Given my choice of fresh or with a bit of time for the coffee to subside a little (heresy, I know) I’d take it with just a bit of time.

Dec 7, 2009 Nice roasted aroma. Opaque black with decent tan head. Charred flavor with a clean finish; hints of the described chocolate, coffee, and oatmeal.

Dec 6, 2009 Poured solid black with a tall creamy brown head. The head left nice lacing througout the glass. The aroma was sweet chocolate and coffee with just a hint of alcohol. The initial taste was of milk chocolate with a creamy texture. In just a second or two the flavor rolled into more of a espresso coffee bitterness. The coffee flavor remand, but the bitterness mellowed on the fnish leaving more of a smokey sense on the palate, with just a bit of warmth from the alcohol, which was hidden very well. Very enjoyable beer!!

Dec 3, 2009 Draft at brewery. Pitch black colour, tan head. Aroma has lots of roasted malts and roasted coffee. Flavour of roasted malts, bitter coffee and chocolate. The roastiness is particulary nice.

Dec 2, 2009 A deep and viscous stout with a thin moka head. Strong aroma of Nestle Quick, and cappuccino coffee, fresh cereals, intense and pungeant. In mouth, a silky fruity stout, with coffee grinds, espresso, roasted cereals, smooth and silky, lots going on in mouth in this one. Rich and silky.

Dec 1, 2009 Pitch black with a thin a fading tan head. Intense nose of green coffee and milk chocolate. Full body with light carbonation, dominant flavors are green coffe (unroasted) first and finishes on cocoa and a little bit of roasted grains. Persistance of the aftertaste is quite notable. Almost like, as a kid, when I had too much of corn flakes with Quick cocoa milk...
