Sampled at the Milwaukee Beer Barons World of Beer Festival. Pours a brownish amber with a nice amber head. Aroma is vert nutty, caramel, whiskeyish and strong strong coffee. Flavor is really more of the same although the alcohol seems more pronounced and a bit of the Canadian whiskey comes through. Texture is oily and full bodied. Really very similair to KBS with a hint of Maple Syrup. Yum yummy good!

Source: Tap at DLD.
Glass: Plastic Cup.
Appearance: Solid black with a one finger brown head.
Aroma: Maple syrup, pancakes, chocolate and roasted malt.
Flavor: Coffee, maple syrup, chocolate, vanilla and a roasty finish.
Palate: Full bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: The real deal...still like KBS better, but this is a VERY close second.

On tap at Brouwer’s Back in Black Stout Fest for SBW- unbelievable surprise keg- as a maple fiend, this is the stout I wanted to try the most. Pours black with a decent tan head that fades to a lasting ring. Smells like buttery maple pancakes, leather, bitter dark chocolate, and roasty malt. Bourbon and chocolate are more prevalent in the taste. Nice thick mouthfeel; finishes with a maple sweetness and bitter chocolate/coffee.

pint @ Philly Taphouse. Thanks to carny77 for finding out about this tap. Good aroma, sweet, coffee grounds, chocolate, minor maple. Black color, small head, with good lacing. Bitter sweet flavor. Medium body, smooth creamy mouthfeel, sweet bitter finish. Tasty enough, didn’t really distinguish itself from regular breakfast stout. Maple was subtle for the most part, occasionally I though it would come on, but then it stepped back.

On tap at Founders Taproom. Black with a tan head. Incredible maple aroma with coffee and some chocolate. Huge coffee flavor with some maple/molasses sweetness, chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of smokiness. Medium bodied and very drinkable. Pleasant alcohol burn at the finish. Just as good as KBS, if not better. Absolutely amazing, and surprisingly accessible. Wish this was available in bottles.

Multiple samples on tap at the World of Beer festival. Poured to a pitch black body with a creamy brown head. The smell was 95% like the regular one with coffee and creamy chocolate but had notes of maple toffee. The beer tastes like the regular one more so than the KBS does, but was sweet maple syrup (but not unbalanced) and vanilla barrel. Rich creamy full body that’s sweet and balanced. I liked this a LOT.

awesome brew, tasted at beer barrons, world of beer fest. I assumed it would taste alot like kbs, but instead it had alot of very different quallities. Much stronger with more subtle notes of chocolate and coffee.
