Commercial Description:
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

Bottle. Pours lighter than I expected, clear caramel colored with decent off-white head. Hoppy aroma mixed with a touch of citrus fruit and flowers. Immediately bitter, followed by a touch of sweetness. The hops dominate the start and the malt dominates the finish. A bit of nuttiness in there along with a fain touch of caramel. Tingly on the palate. Very good.

I was hoping for better here. Nice aroma but flavor doesn’t live up. I guess I’m used to a little more kick in an IPA. I’m a big Founders fan but I probably won’t reach for this one over a Celebration, Two Hearted,Moylans, or Torpedo.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep hazy orange with a thick white frothy head. Smell is floral and piny hops with sweet malt and hint of honey as well. Flavor is sweet malt up front with floral hops rounding out a lasting bitter finish. Nice medium body. Solid IPA.

12oz screwtop. These guys brew a good beer and this is an excellent example of an IPA. Nothing over the top but just a perfect combination of flavors and hops.

12 oz bottle, which poured a cloudy dark amber with a thin head. Nice and strong hoppy nose, with hints of sweetness to it. I found this very well balanced with a nice malt base to it. Hops have some sweetness to it, and the hop flavor is very long lasting. Finish is mildly bitter. Very nice.

Simply a fantastic aroma, very nice malt backing, and a nice hop bill. All centennial, and I think, if I had to choose, between an all centennial beer, it’d now be a hard choice between this and two hearted. This is a darker, more conventionally hoppy IPA, but that’s not always a bad thing when it’s perfection, is it?
