Aromas of roasted caramel and floral hop. Flavor is really hoppy, but not all that bitter. Nice malt backbone. Nicely hoppy, but not overly bitter finish. Damn good drink. Hazy copper, pitted head. Flavor very similar, alot of citrus rind and flowers. Malt background is very plain and inobtrusive, just a breadiness. Medium mouthfeel, pretty smooth, with a decent finishing bitterness. Pretty solid, I can see why its considered a style exemplar for AIPA: simple grain bill, citric hopping, plentiful IBUs, and very very clean fermentation profile. It doesn’t exactly turn me on but its so well constructed I can’t help but rate it highly. slimchill (780), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2009 Bottle. Pleasant citrus and pine aroma with mild caramel and toast background. Clear amber-ruby with lots of carbonation up to a lasting, thick white head. Very balanced with a strong malt presence and well-rounded hop character providing both bitterness and a mild pine and orange peel flavor. Very full-bodied, and just the right amount of carbonation. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Bottle from Sams poured into a tulip. Amber orange pour; slightly hazy with a fluffy head and great lacing. My first impression was that of pine and resin, but it was quickly replaced with lovely candied orange (and peel), sweet grapefruit, and great floral notes. Still some nice resin and bit of sweet malt behind it as well. Body not too sticky at all. Very impressed.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Bottle into Sam Adams Lager glass. Pours a cloudy light copper, with a small, fluffy off-white head that settles into a long-lasting cap. Lots of lacing in this one. Nose is quite citrusy, with a rind-like bitterness underneath. Taste starts off with a heavy citrus sweetness, moving from that to a slightly astringent bitterness that counters an even more intense citrus sweetness, like candied oranges. Finish is moderately long, lightly bitter, with some gorgeous sweet citrus notes peeking through a bit further into it. Fantastic. Mouthfeel is lively but restrained, tingly, slick, full body. trayns (241), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA

The head pours thick but disappears midway through. Typical IPA taste, nice bitter crisp finish. Again, the initial head and smell of this beer make it worthwhile.
