Commercial Description:
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

-golden reddish brown mostly hoppy nose. Flavor just has a tad of crystal malt with a lot of grapefruit-bitterness and flavor from the centennial hops with a mild floral appearance at the end. A solid one hop beer.

Pours a rich orange with a medium frothy white head that dissipates quickly, leaving webs of lacing. A lot of particulate here.....I shouldn’t have poured it this quick, but particulate like this is a rarity for an IPA. Aroma is intense grapefruit, some grassiness and pine. Taste is much the same with a thin mouthfeel with some unsweetened tea in there. Pretty good and drinkable on the bitter spectrum.

12oz bottle into pint, mug, and snifter.Liked the mug best of the three.Slightly hazy orange/amber pour with 1-2 fingers of fluffy white head, plenty of lacing all the way down.Aroma is hoppy grapefruit, pine, and spice at first,as it warms you get more of the caramel malt. Flavor is very balanced, citrus, pine resin, and this chewy sticky caramel/honey thing going on in flavor and mouthfeel. The soft carbonation and a medium body make this go down way too easy . I waited to try this only because I can get it anytime,I’m going to keep some of this on hand from now on. Very Good !

12oz bottle served in a tulip glass. Hazy copper body topped by a nice off-white head. Big piney, grapefruit nose. Taste is pine, toffee, grapefruit, tea, and a hint of chocolate. Quite balanced, very drinkable. The balance swings toward dry at the finish, which lasts for quite a while. Very yummy.

Pours red copper with a chunky beige head that lasts all the way through the glass and leaves trails of sparse lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, citrus hops, melon, berries; caramel, grain, and toffee malts. Flavor has lots of, somewhat grainy at first, then caramel and toffee malts. Then in come the hops, as the caramel malts march on the grapefruit and bitter hops show up to liven up the show, not overly strong in the IPA world but plenty to let you know they are there and they mean business. FInish is toffee, with plenty of spicy and bitter hops. Body is medium, sticky and a warmth that makes the alcohol content seem even higher than the 7.2%.

hazy apricot color, good sized off white head, good lacing. aroma of grapefruit hops, trace of sweet malt. flavor of grapefruit, sweet tea, caramel hops. medium bodied, frizzy, medium bitter finish. quite enjoyable, but missing something i can’t quite put my finger on...maybe a little bit too gassy.

Bottle, amber pour, very small white head. Aroma is hoppy, but fruity. Flavors are malty and hops are there, but not a west coast IPA. Juicy and good. I liked this, another winner from Founders.
