Commercial Description:
Selected as a benchmark for the Beer Judge Certification Program used in all American based beer judgings. Centennial IPA has quickly become the IPA of choice. Pour yourself a pint of this complex flavorful ale and bask in the frothy head’s floral bouquet. Relish the immense citrus accents, achieved by the abundance of dry hopping. This ale’s sweet, malty undertones balance the hop character with a finish that never turns too bitter.

(Sampled 7-10-08) 12 oz. bottle poured into shaker- poured light burnt orange in color, semi transparent, medium carbonation, Semi tractor with trailer size off white head formed and laced heavily. Aroma of citrus, hops, and even more hops. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt is omnipresent, some sweetness was noted for half a second in the middle, but then the hops kicked down the door, drew their guns, and took no prisoners well beyond the finish! Despite the hop overload sensation, everything is very well balanced. One that I just mysteriously didn’t add to my have list...

BITTER with hops. I mean, man--this beer is just overloaded with hops and citrus. I’m thankful for the sample from their tap room, but would never buy a bottle--just not a fan.

Pours copper with nice head. Big smell, is it weird to say I smell bazooka bubble gum? Nice herbal flavor. Good all around beer.

20080720 12oz bottle from Spirits on Sunset. One of many samples of this stellar beer. Inviting, bespeckled, hazy dark amber with thick, frothy, beige head of lasting, lacing foam. Aroma is subtle, mild, but nicely floral and a touch of spruce. Mouthfeel is soft with slight eff, almost creamy, very pleasant all across the middle and then quickly finishing with a brisk resinous astringency to finish. Excellent. Dangerously drinkable stuff with beautiful hop character from sniff to swallow, light mouthfeel, pleasing bitterness, and not a hint of the over seven percent abv. Glad it’s too expensive at ten bucks a six pack, or I’d be having many long sessions with this beer all too frequently.

12oz bottle. Pours amber with a sticky, thinnish, white head, spider web lace. Smells caramelly malty and earthy, subdued hoppy. Tastes big and sweet malty bit with plenty of hop flavor as well. Not overly bitter, earthy and sweet. Slight lingering bitterness. Medium body, good carbonation.

Aphoristically and geographically lying between west coast and east coast IPA’s. Sure its got plenty of grapefruit and pine but it doesn’t overdue it. Refreshing and drinkable.

Bottle courtesy of mymrnngjckt poured into a snifter. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a small dense head that quickly leaves only a ring and a decent amount of lacing. The smell is heavy on the citrus hops with grapefruit dominating the aroma up front before giving way to a sweet candied sugar malt backbone. There is a sweet bready malt kick up front in the taste before giving way to the citrus hop explosion with lemon zest on top of the grapefruit mixed with a sugary sweetness. This gives way to a slightly piny bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is sticky with hop juice but finishes with a very crisp bitter finish. This is a very good and extremely drinkable IPA that is heavy on the light fruit hops, making it a great summer brew.
