This was the opening beer at a Founders tasting. I was a bit surprised they didn’t start with the dry hopped pale ale but it was a nice way to freshen up the palate. It was light enough that it wouldn’t be too tough to finish off several while out at the grill. This is an excellent well made IPA that deserves attention if you run across it.
Aroma / Appearance - A short lived white head surged to the top above an amber carbonated body. Malts and hops blended with the bitterness being a bit more evident. Resin and cedar chips were the strongest evidence of the centennial presence.
Flavor / Palate - The bitterness hits the tongue from the start. It was not overpowering but well balanced and sessionable. Cedar chips, resin and creaminess completed an enjoyable start to the evening. Sparky27 (1642), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Pours a medium clear amber with minimal head sans for an off-white soap film topper that creates decent lacing. Nose is sweet caramel malt, citrus and pine. Palate is a more subdued version of the nose. Not as hoppy as I expected but a nicely done balanced IPA. Thanks John and Brian. psycho11 (22), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2008 Very malty sweet. Floral and clover-like. Citrus hops that are slightly rough in character, but nice. Mouthfeel is smooth with light, yet prickly carbonation. A lot of pretty tasty hop flavor coming from the dry hopping I presume. This brew is a hazy orange color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Herbal, floral hops aroma with notes of citrus. Medium-bodied and moderately bitter with floral hops and pine flavors, along with some sweet malt and candi in the background. The finish is hoppy with a lingering zesty citrus aftertaste. Well done all around. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Resiny hops but not overly sweet smelling. Smells excellent. Taste is really balanced. Enough sweetness to balance the hops. Smooth finish. Great IPA.
