KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 28, 2009 Black with a medium deep beige head. Sweet aroma with burned malt, espresso, sour cherries and dark chocolate. Sweet flavour with burned malt, dark bitter chocolate and sour cherries. Picked up a bit of lacto as well. Finished sweet and sourish with warming alchol. Lovely. BBB63 (4195), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 22, 2008 On tap at brewpub, Black Party 2008: Dark brown with amber highlights topped by a creamy beige head and good lace work. The aroma has notes of chocolate covered cherries as expected along with some bready malt, herbal hops, and hint of oak. The taste is malty sweet balanced slightly by a plum and cherry twang with a herbal and metallic finish. A quick dash of smoke showed up as well. The mouth feel is very creamy and very drinkable but also a touch too thin and watery. Not the train wreck I fear when I ordered it, heck it was pretty good once I got used to the beer. brewblackhole (1366), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Apr 21, 2008 While not a fan of most Cherry stouts, because they always have that artificial cherry flavoring, this one seemed at least tolerable. My first beer of the night at the Founders Black Party, Smelled like I had my nose over a dark chocolate cordial candy box, with just that faintest twinge of artificiality coming out in the cherry. Taste was the same, with the nitro finish putting a slight metallic taste in finish. I would drink this again, but still the style not my favorite lampeno420 (321), Zeeland, Michigan, USA Apr 20, 2008 On tap at Founders Black Party 08. A very nitro look to in instantly which made me worry, but it was better than a lot of them that i’ve had. Nice and chocolate-y with just a hint of cherry hidden in the massive cream head. Wish this wasn’t so nitro-y and more of a solid thick beer, since they said it was at 4.5%. Still, a very solid brew that i could probably drink even in the hot summer months. thebrownbomber (6), Walker, Michigan, USA does not count Apr 3, 2008 On tap at Founders. Dark brown/black with an off white, rich, and creamy head you’d expect from a nitro beer. Great mild cherry aroma and flavor. Unfortunately, the aroma and flavor have a very artificial feel. Overall, a solid beer. MikeMac (185), Wyandotte, Michigan, USA Apr 4, 2006 On tap @ The Founders Black Party. Deep brown to black with a off white head. mild cherry aroma throught the roasty and chocolate aromas. Flavor was not over bearing decent balance to this one nice creamy nitro pour feel. badnewsbeers (1026), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Apr 3, 2006 this was another nitro "fruit", moreso fruit syrup infused chocolate stout...typical nitro appearance and palate....aroma and flavor were the same, subtle cherry with mostly chocolate and roasted...not the most complex beer, and it may not be worth the 3.5 rating given; however, i happen to enjoy the appearance and palate of nitro brews too much, and this will always elevate my rating Bigassfish (140), Naperville/Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 2, 2006 On Nitro tap at Founders. Dark with creamy white head. Aroma of chocolate and cherries. Flavor of roasted malts, cream, chocolate, and a hint of cherry. cherries not dominate. Creamy smooth beer. Very good.
