Commercial Description:
Tenth Anniversary Ale A generous malt bill, ten hours in the kettle, a touch of hops, twice fermented with a blend of American and Belgian yeast strains, then conditioned with a delicate blend of spices. Bottle via MrBendo - thanks! Sweet spicy nose, lots of caramel malt with citric hops, sticky and reminiscent of FFF. A bit of colorful sugar, presumably from the yeast, and vanilla cream. Dark brown pour with a light brown / tanned head. Strong flavor, robust alcoholic kick, sweet with a grassy/herbal tone which lasts past the caramel in the drying aftertaste. Firm vanilla and a bit of a cool mint feel. Touches of clove and ginger, sweet toffee and yeast made liquid - the colorful candy store notes that one finds often in Belgian. Loads of rich, developed malt, hints at chocolate without presenting it. Complex and nimble and delicious! Dried, pitted fruits, more fig than apricot. Medium, very sticky body. Aftertaste has tobacco, cigar quality - reminds of HOTD. Had no chance at guessing 13% abv - tastes more like a full 8-9%. Dangerous and very original!

22 oz bottle in trade from Siphium. Deep burnt orange pour with minimal head. Strong malt aroma, once past that roasted coriander and maybe cardamon. Nice feel, the 13% alc and sweetness round out a very very green smoothness. Chocolate and spiced apricots on the hard palate. This is a fine beer and one of the best in it’s style.

Dark brown color. Nose is impressive and awfully complex, mostly malty with roast, caramel and sugared fruits notes. Also traces of spices. Flavor is massive and thick. Lots of taste. Well aged malts, caramel, toffee, wild mountain fruit. Belgian-like in a way, but also like an english barley wine. Nice balance overall, including the spicing. Very tasty, well made beer.

22oz Bottle. Oxidization and bug spray aroma. A bit of hops and grass. Some aged fruit. Pours a ruddy amber with orange fringe and a rim of white. Flavor is a bit of potatoes, ginger, and candy balls. There’s popcorn! Some serious celery seed. A weak ass imitation of Eccentric ale. Old tasting and it’s not even been a year. Salty, celery and old. Run away. Guess what this isn’t doing? Aging well. Thanks Sean!

Sampled at guest table during Dark Lord Days ’08. From 22-oz bomber pours a semi-hazy copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin ring and very little lacing. Aroma of medicinal herbs, dried yeast, some faint sweet caramel malt, and a touch of vanilla. Taste is medium to full bodied, light carbonated, heavy on the alcohol with flavors of dark pitted fruits, some yeast, dried multi-grain malt and some herbal spice. Finish is slightly metallic from the high alcohol with a dry and bitter malt aftertaste that lingers after the finish. I’d share this one during the winter months any day.

Bottle, blind tasting. A ruby beer with a beige head. The aroma is of caramel malt, vanilla and it´s floral and herbal. The taste is sweet and of caramel malt, vanilla, rye bread, hops and alcohol. Medium to full body with a sweet dry hoppy and light alcoholic finish.
