| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 7, 2009 Updated: May 10, 200912 ounce bottle. This poured a deep yellow color with a half finger width white head that disappeared quickly. I was actually a bit disappointed by this pour... it was a bit boring for an IIPA. The aroma is a very nice mix of hops, pine, citrus, and a bit of spice in the background. The taste is a combination of bitter hops, pine and citrus. It did leave a nice bitter taste in my mouth after each drink and left decent lacing on the side of the glass. Overall a good IIPA but nothing special... hopheaven (85), Eureka, California, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 6, 2009 Big hoppy head, effervescent and alive. The beer is clear and golden with particles swirling around inside. Strong hop smell (who would have thought?) is piney, citrus, fragrant, candy-like, and enticing. Ginger, cinnamon, bubblegum, watermelon... it’s an amalgamation of all that is indulgently sweet and spicy. This is the best smelling IPA I’ve had in recent memory. Alcohol rich, sweet and rummy but not overbearing or cloying. Well-rounded with a spicy finish. Easily the most drinkable, least unnverving 9% alcohol beer I’ve ever had. mcmd (144), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 6, 2009 Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a medium sudsy white head which settles. Aroma is honeysickle, piney hops, and grapefruit. Taste is initially sweet honey, then strong grapefruit and pine kick in leaving a huge hop bitterness in the finish-gotta be simcoe in this - always seems to have a slight pill taste in the finish. More powerful and raw than hopslam, but not as smooth. Still a great IIPA. jimhilt (1688), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 6, 2009 Pours a three finger white head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Piney nose. Flavor is sweet, grapefruit and pine. Barely a lingering grapefruit aftertaste. High ABV is hidden. Decent DIPA. $3.70 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, MA. Barrios (860), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 6, 2009 Bottle pours an off-white head that looks like a pillow. It laces with each draught. Smells of citrus hops mainly, then pine and spice. Some thick sweetness on the nose. Flavor is citrus hops and clover honey. That fades to spice and bitter hops with residual sweetness.
