Hazy gold, creamy white head. Deep pine resin and peppery earth hop tones ride subtle aromas of tropical fruit and florals. Bitter pine and earth flavors warm to undercurrents of peppered pineapple. Just a touch of sweet malt in the finish, but this is all about the mighty hop. Lighter side of medium bodied, soft carbonation, lasting bitter finish. Nicely done...

Pours with a slightly cloudy golden body topped by a thin, white head with some lacing. The aroma is sweet and fruity with floral notes and a hint of citrus. The flavor is bitter and hoppy with notes of citrus, a little pine and some floral notes. Medium to full bodied, dry and astringent.

12 oz, bottled 2/9/09 -tasted 4/29/09 so...reasonably fresh for an IIPA. Pours an attractive, somewhat hazy golden with a white head (looks like an uncomplicated grain bill, I like it). Aroma still has some solid punch after nearly 3 months - notes of tropical fruity hops, light biscuit/bread and mango. Simple, yet pleasantly sweet pale malt character along with ample notes of grapefruit rind, mango and papaya. Alcohol presence is pretty well-masked. Has IIPA bitterness but is very well-balanced and not harsh. Medium to full bodied with a smooth texture and moderate carbonation. Good stuff after nearly 3 months - would love to try this super fresh.

12 oz bottle Shared by Odeed, that when held upright read Trouble Double since I am not Chinese and read from left to right not vice versa. Very flowery hop nose like rose petals. Clear yellow with a small white head. Flavor is light bitterness with a small caramel note, the bitterness increasing as it finishes.

12oz bottle from Norm’s Wine and Beer in Vienna. Pours a slightly hazy, mostly transparent, rosy, yellow with a thin, tight white head. Aroma is... well... a little weak for a double IPA. Sweet, candy aromas, sweet-sticky-tropical fruits, some slight citrus, oranges and lemons mostly. Flavor is sweet, spicy, grainy, a little boozy with lots of astringent hop flavors. Tastes like liquid amarillo hops, honestly. Astringent finish, only medium bodied. I love Founders, but this is a little overrated as far as I’m concerned.
