An attractive hazy golden with a thin head, leaving spotty lacing. For some strange reason I couldn’t pick up much on the aroma, just some traces of floral and tangerine hops. Could have been the glass, who knows? Started out like a top tier 2IPA, with a great presence of citrusy and floral hops, but after a while this seemed to become muddled and overly sweet in the malts, combining to create a sticky, peachy flavor. Certainly enjoyable after a five mile walk around Philly, but I wanted more of that 2IPA super resiny astringency on the finish to cut into the sweetness. Slipstream (775), USA

Terrific sweet, floral aroma with a touch of malt and pine. The taste is charged up with lots of hops that linger into the aftertaste. This has astringent, almost salty, pine and grapefruit flavors that come close to being too harsh Double Trouble is a potent IPA that will score big with any hop fanatic. craftbeerdesign (760), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 19, 2009 bottle poured into a snifter... pours a brilliant golden with an average white head which carries to a nice lacing. solid citrus hop aromas... but not over the top. big mouth feel with lots of hops - citrus and some pine. bigger on the sides, while light and fresh up top. the malt balances quite well... big spicy citrus finish on the tip and the bitterness sticks with you for a long time..... the hops really take hold of your palate.... excellent IIPA... wouldn’t expect anything different from Founders. bigrond (1054), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Very. very good IPA. Hops are everywhere, start to finish. Ends with a nice dry hopped finish. Aroma is great. The appearance is the only thing I could find fault with, it looks more like a pilsner or even a pale lager than an IPA. But 9+ on the alc more than makes up for it.

Its intensely bitter, extremely over-hopped, and is very one dimensional in flavor. The sharp bite of the pine and resin hops prevents you from tasting anything else, and it goes down like knives. Not an enjoyable IPA. tmoreau (597), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 17, 2009 12 oz. bottle to a Czech Pils glass. Poured a clear golden hue, with a modest, white foamy head and intermittent, but good lacing. The aroma was an eyebrow raising hop profile of strong resiny pine and citrus. The malt was present to smooth out the edges. The flavor boasted the same strong profile with the balancing malt and a hint of candy sweetness. The hop dryness and bitterness were consistent and welcome through the finish. JJClark (546), Roscoe, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours a light orange color with a big fluffy head. Aromas of hops, pine, citrus and spices. Taste of hops, citrus and spices. Flavor is bold and bitter with light malt lingering in back which makes it nicely balanced. Overall a good brew.
