| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 30, 2009 bottle thanks to alexsdad06. Pours a cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Nose is of caramel and overripe fruit. Taste is earthy and of overripe fruit. mouthfeel is resinous and bitter with alcohol warmth. Was similar to devil dancer and Surly Furious. Just not my preference in IIPAs. I’d much rather have the west coast style. Gmku (255), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 30, 2009 Pours with good, solid off-white head with good retention, a clear light orange color, and not much carbonation bubbles. The head fades to a thick ring around the edges leaving a bit of lacing down the sides.
Aroma is of pale malts with a huge grapefruit, citrus lemon peel, and pine notes. Might be some floral aromas peek in on the back side well.
Taste nicely matches the aroma. Pale malts start as the citrus grapefruit and lemon flavors push it aside. Some pine/earth flavors through the middle form long lasting finish.
A great double IPA, medium-full in body, creamy and smooth, just slightly oily, and while high ABV, doesn’t deliver a huge alcohol bite. I don’t usually think of DIPA’s as especially suitable for session drinking, but this is so quaffable, this would qualify--if you can keep the ABV from killing the session! A wonderful ale!

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 28, 2009 bottle 10 months out from the bottling date poured a cloudy golden color with a thin off white head. aroma has faded citrus hops, sweet malt, and some mild bitterness. mouth feel is on the lighter side and the carbonation has held up rather well. flavor starts with some bitterness, mild citrus, caramel malt, and some sweetness. this has held up very well and will have to be revisited fresh. Hoppy nose of citrus and grape. Flavour with hops, malt and carmel. Medium to full bodied. Great bitter finish. Very enjoyable. Ober (1235), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 25, 2009 A hazy golden colored beer, with a thick foamy white head. The aroma of hop bitters, a lot of fruits like citrus and orange. The taste is dry bitter of hops, fruity with notes of alcohol in the back. The aftertaste is dry and bitter with a little sweet. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 24, 2009 bottle. to be honest, i expected a lot more from this beer. founders makes some great stuff and this was a nice Imperial IPA - sadly, I compare these to Hopslam and it’s not even close. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Wow. Founders again. This is better than the Centennial IPA (an amazingly underrated IPA) but only slightly. This is still a wonderful compliment. A bit reedy thin on the taste, but still amazing, typical, nose, and this beer hits well and accurately. jredmond (1072), New Jersey, USA
