On tap at Founders. Pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is a bit chocolate character with maple syrup. Hints of toffee and caramel make up this big malt nose. Flavor starts with a sharp coffee and cocoa bean kick. Gains a creamy nuttiness and a sharp brooding coffee and earthy hop bitterness returns in the finish and lingers along with a small burnt chocolate sweetness. Medium to full body. Nice imperial stout but not the best of the best

Bottle 12fl.oz. @ home.
[ Trade by VikingHammer ]. Clear dark black color with a average, frothy to creamy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, coffee, peat notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft. [20090218]

A very good stout. Mostly coffee bitter in the taste and smell. An excellent Imperial stout, not much to say that was extraordinary, but nothing I can knock it for either. A very good beer.

Bottle courtesy of MasterSki. Poured pitch black with a very thin brown head. Intricate lacing on the glass with no staining. Big roasted nose slightly boozy with hints of anise, chocolate, and rasin. Creamy viscous mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Flavor is burnt malt, bitter chocolate, anise, and rasin with a slight alcohol burn. Boozy dry finish. Very nice.

Deep black beer with a thick sticky very dark brown head. The aroma is really nice, rich milk chocolate, a bit of bittersweet character as well. Quite rich with a bit of wheaty spiciness in the back as well. It is quite intense and rich. Sweet deep malty finish. A touch of roasted barley and a touch of savoury slightly salty richness. Great balance with a nice earthy bitterness and a lingering fudgey chocolate sweetness as well. Great imperial stout.
