Taste is a heavy malt, bitter chocolate, some licorice and a hop bitter to finish. Alcohol is there but in a good way with the bitter finish. Outstanding. njbfr (107), New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2009 Pours pitch black with a motor oil consistency. One finger cinnamon-tan head. Noticed a chunk of yeast plop into the glass. Mostly chocolate and hops on the nose with a hint of alcohol and something else. Maybe vanilla? Flavor is loaded with familiar tastes. Smoke, chocolate, coffee and alcohol dominate. Very thick, oily mouthfeel. A little too carbonated for an imperial stout in my opinion. Good lacing and a warming finish. Heavy bodied with noticeable but not overwhelming alcohol. Will rate this one again soon. DWestrick (247), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA

Aroma of chocolate and roasted barley. Extremely creamy and full bodied. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, and a little dry at the back end. Awesome. drowland (1436), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 22, 2009 12oz bottle (2009) into a goblet. Pours opaque black with a really dark brown head that is thick and lingers - lots of lacing. The nose is huge roast with coffee, chocolate, and a blast of sour dark fruits with a hiiiiint of alcohol. The flavor is huge roasted malts, a touch bitter even, with chocolates and dark fruits hanging by the wayside in the background. There is a hint of the high ABV.
