Aroma has dark chocolate and licorice. Flavor is full bodied but understated, dry, led by licorice and horehound, with a little bit of dark fruit in there, and then a chocolate finish. Highly viscous and smooth palate, one could be forgiven for spooning it out of the glass. Sonicdescent (379), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a deep black, aroma is of your typical RIS, not necessarily a bad thing. Flavor is where this one is set apart with coffee and some other flavors I can’t identify. Full bodied. I really like this one. dkachur (2376), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 14, 2009 Pours completely black, forming a one finger brownish foamy head. Aroma of milk chocolates, roasted malts, hops, and toffee tones. Flavour was of much of the same, rather smooth, hops have a lovely character in this beer, chocolates and coffee balance out this tremendous brew. Alcohol is well hidden, this beer is to be cherished.

Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee. Good malt flavor, just a touch of hops and coffee, and a lot of chocolate. Incredibly smooth. Good stuff. jrmac (213), USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 14, 2009 Undeniably smooth. The bottle says 90 IBU’s, but I find it hard to believe. The aroma is roast coffee, a hint of chocolate, and a little fruit. The flavor is pretty much the same. I can’t believe how smooth this puppy is. Highly recommend. daknole (2942), Plantation, Florida, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Feb 13, 2009 Bottle from BrewCzar. Pours a midnight black with a very, very small brown head that forms around the edges of the glass. The first thing that hits me is the roasted malt and chocolate mix. It has a nice dose of smoke and fruit as well. The flavor is chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and has some perfect and I mean PERFECT balance due to the smart use of hops. This beer was good from the first sip to the last. Nice. SHANER4 (377), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 12, 2009 12 oz. bottle - Poured ink black with thin brown head.
Aroma - smokey, chocolate, toasted malt and coffee. Very rich smelling almost like leather and chocolate mix.
Flavor - roasted dark chocolate covered almonds minus the sweetness. Very nice on tongue with a little smoke taste.
Palate - medium to heavy mouthfeel with average carbonation. Slightly dry and bitter finish.
Overall - Damn good stout that is easy to drink and high ABV. is well hidden. Has coffee bitter aftertaste.
