Bottle from Archer Liquors. Pours quite black with a very thin dark tan head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate and mild burnt toast. Very full bodied with mild, mild carbonation. Flavor is really chocolate, followed by coffee, and the bitter seems supplied by burnt malt. Finishes really smooth, mostly dry and rather astringent. Heat is very well hidden. This is a really good IS.

Bottle, courtesy Gillard. Reddish black pour, dark tan creamy head, and tons of lacing. Nose has a lot of roast, chocolate, coffee, some caramel, and lots of toast. Very tasty, chocolate roast, creamy smooth velvety finish, very nice toast. Balanced, bull-bodied, very drinkable and good.

Whoa, this is good. Nice velvety black pour with a one-finger brown head. Roasty malts, chocolate, espresso, and a bit of creaminess. Slight cinnamon notes, I think. Some fruit under it all as well. Not overwhelmingly alcoholic. Nicely balanced and lovely to consume.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of roasted malts, light burnt malts, chocolate, light coffee, cocoa, and espresso. Poured black in color with a small, dark brown head that lasted throughout. Opaque. Sparkling. Decent lacing. Flavor is light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, slight tar, charcoal, and bitter coffee. Medium, to full body. Viscous, lightly chalky texture. Average carbonation. Sweet, slightly bitter, chocolate malt finish. 10% ABV totally undetectable.

12oz bottle form Archer Liquors. Pours very dark brown with thin dark tan head. Aroma is mostly roasted malt and chocolate with some molassas. Flavor is nicely balance with roasted malt and chocolate with some molassas and light coffee. Mouthfeel is rich and silky. Nice to have a nicely balanced RIS that doesn’t go overboard with coffee or booze. Nice job Founders.
