Growler: Pours black with thin, dissipating tan/brown head. Aroma is strong, roasted chocolate malts, dark sugars, burnt coffee. Flavor is so smooth; dark chocolate, roasted sugars, lightly hopped. Very warm bittersweet finish. So balanced and delicious, having more than one of these is trouble!

(Bottle, thanks to Puddintane) Pours black with a small brown head. The aroma is medium to heavily roasted with tones of chocolate ice cream, cocoa, coffee beans, dark grainy bread, milk, light vanilla, light mint, light tar/asphalt and tiny smoky. Some vinous notes as the beer gets warmer with notes of dark grapes. Hints of stone and dark caramel. The flavour is medium to heavily roasted with tones of coffee beans, dark chocolate, tar/asphalt, light smoke, dark syrup, dark caramel, brown sugar, some dark bread, vanilla, arrack, light salt liquorice. Some vinous notes in the flavour as well with hints of tart dark grapes. Just a touch of hops. The mouthfeel is soft, smooth, velvety and light oily with a light carbonation. The finish is light tart. Light to medium sweet and light bitter. Some dark roast lingers in the aftertaste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, bread and syrup alongside dark grape tartness. Medium to full bodied. Nice to see an American IMP that is not overly hoppy.

Growler shared by Mike and Mark. Thanks fellas. Poured an opaque black color. Roasty nose with alcohol and chocolate accents. Medium to full bodied and slightly sweet. I tasted a fair amount of raw alcohol accompanied by coffee, toffee, and some tar. Pretty much what a an imperial stout should be.

Growler. This one was very nice. Black pour with a thin tan head. Huge chocolate aroma. Roasted chocolate goodness rolling all over this one with some toffee and hops in the finish. Very creamy.

It always smells like fresh barley brewing. This is an excellent stout and Founder’s Best, yes better than the breakfast Stouts. I had this with a brew master sandwich, I highly recommend this.

Bottle courtesy of mreusch (thanks Matt!) Beautiful, viscous pour with a pancake colored head. This beer is as black as it gets. Nose is RICH, with coffee, chocolate, leather and earth. Flavor is as the nose, with a bit more of a gritty influence adding to the earthiness. Finish is slight dry and clean. Reminds me much of the Old Raspy. Very good.

12oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a moderate sized mahogany head. Intense aroma of rich roasted malt with dark chocolate, dark fruit and a bit of vinous character. Rich roasted malt and dark chocolate flavor. Long bittersweet chocolate finish. Full bodied and smooth on the palate. Awesome beer.
