Bottle cracked by ogglethorp. Oilly black pour with a tan head. Aroma of bready caramel malt, dark chocolate, light vinous elements, boozey fruits, and some roastiness. Flavors were similar, chocolate, roasted caramel malt, boozey dark fruits. Thick body, bready/bittersweet/roasty with a roasty/bittersweet/light vinous finish. Age has been good to this one.

05 bottle thanks to drewbeerme. Poured a thick black color with a moderate tan head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of chocolate, some roastiness, and a hint of caramel. Smooth chocolate malt entry, caramel, and hints of spice and slight fruity undertones. Smooth, a little alcohol detectable, but it doesn’t detract from the beer. Really nice, thanks Drew.

Bottle via tetrik, thanks. Pours inky black with a brown colored head with yellow highlights. Aroma of chocolate, roast, coffee. Flavor is huge blast of roast, chocolate, toffee, coffee. Palate is full bodied, mildly carbonated, finished silky sooth and bitter. This stuff is doing awesome!

Bottled shared by wetherel at the PP Bottle Shop with DenverLogan, goldtwins, Sean and Ryan, thanks! Absolutely still and silky pitch black pour with stained edges. Great aroma of caramelized black malts, coffee grounds and burnt earth. Savory flavors of smoky coffee and rich chocolate espresso work out nicely. Citric finish with light oxidation and a long bitter aftertaste cap this one off very well. Chewy, soft body and flavors improved well with warmth.

bottle poured at 1/28 Houston tasting, thanks to theisti. I’ve been wanting to get a try at this Impy, but couldn’t find it, and it did not disappoint. It poured a thick, black with a thin brown head which dissipated rather quickly. The smell was luxurious with fragrant coffee and dark chocolate. Wow! Taste was like a chocolate brownie. Mmmmm!!! Mouthfeel was thick and syrupy with a dry aftertaste. What a treat! Loved this Impy!

Pours black with 2 finger brown head and nice lacing. Chocolate and coffee on the nose. Thick creamy month-feel. Chocolate ice cream upfront with big malty finish. Thanks to my secret santa for this!

2006 rating - Beer poured really dark brown, almost black. Little light passing through. Large head emerged 10 sec after the pour, but faded quickly. Flavor was really chocolatey and coffee. Almost like drinking a mocha shake...thick! Excellent…with a hop bitterness on the end. The only "down" was the prevalent alcohol flavor which made this a tad too sweet, otherwise this would have been up there with the greats. Maybe letting a bottle age a bit would help.
