Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Bottle. Courtesy of CptGreencoat. Poured black, completely opaque with almost no head. Aroma is sweet but also harsh like burnt coffee grounds. Body is very full and very creamy. Flavor is burnt malt that fades into a very soft milk chocolate very much like chocolate milk. Very balanced some vanilla and oak also come thru. Finishes dry with a sweet bourbon note. Excellent!

Chocolate, coffee, wood, and smoke in the aroma. Very dark brown and silky pour with a dark brown head that dissapears within seconds. Very thick on the palate with a strong alcohol burn in the back of the throat. Chocolate, wood, raisins, and salt are the flavors that stand out. I would have liked a more profound bourbon flavor. All I could really pick up was the barrel. Still a very good stout, not too sticky either.

Bottle received via trade. Dark silky black pour, barely noticable carbonation and rich dark chocolate and bourbon aroma. Flavor was whisky, vanilla, coffee and smooth bittersweet roasted malts all the way through. I hope I can get my hands on more of this soon. Very well done!

This beer is a meal, thick and cream yet crisp. Very good. Orange skin coats the inside of the glass when you take a sip, fingers dissipate quickly. Little to no head (brown beige pond-scum residue). Opened this 09 bottle next to an 09 breakfast stout. The breakfast stout is a little more seltzery, also much less in the aroma dept. To be honest, they are very different beers. Both so well balanced. Coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, whisky undertones. Think i might like the original a bit better.

Bottle from AndyReynolds. Very dark beer with roasted aroma. Flavor is strong roasted malt, coffee, and bourbon. The coffee and bourbon combine to create an excellent balance. Much more balanced than the regular breakfast stout. Finish is very dry. Great beer.

bottle from ’08. Pours a deep brown nearly black. Vanilla, coffee, whiskey, roast malts, sweet, some mild spice nose. Flavor is a rich coffee, lots of roast, chocolate, bourbon. oily full mouthfeel. Bourbon lingers all the way through. Great beer.

Bottle courtesy of Tampa Tasting Group as part of a blind coffee beer tasting. Pours a muddy dark brown to black with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, some notes of caramel, honey, and molasses. Flavor is roasted and malty with notes of vanilla, bourbon, wood, coffee, chocolate, some hints of caramel and honey. Generally medium to full body with a pleasing malty finish.
