Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Picked up at Brawleys in Charlotte, North Carolina. Poured like motor oil, big time! No head, but the small head was a heavy chocolate color. Perfrect looking beer. This is how I love my stouts to look. Huge wood and roast aroma. Not hard to smell at all. Just an amazing aroma, of wood, chocolate. Chocolate is very aromatic. A delicious smell. Wish it had some bourbon smell, but very aromatic. Oh man, perfect flavor. Nice thick chocolate, slight coffee taste, with an awesome bourbon finish. Just a wonderful bourbon taste that lingers. Nice woody taste. A perfectly nuanced beer. Overall, my favorite beer. Nice hop taste mixed in wood that bourbon/wood aftertaste. Let this sucker warm up and it just gets better. I was raised in Kentucky, so this is a providential moment in my life.

Dark black with nice deep brown head. A lot of bourbon and vanilla in nose, (which I like). Flavor is vanilla, malt and bourbon. It’s a little hot, but I still like it. maybe a little out-of-balance, but still awesome stuff. seemed to mellow out as it warmed. I liked it better 20 min after openeing.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Coasters (but enjoyed at home). Amazing aroma of bourbon, vanilla, coffee, and chocolate. Color is black with a very thin brown head; it appears to be very thick. Strong coffee and chocolate flavor up front with a vanilla and alcohol finish. The bourbon aging gives a wonderful vanilla flavor that really does not taste boozy like you would expect from bourbon. Good luck finding this one, but if you do you will not find many beers better than this. Phenomenal.

Poured black. Thought I was pouring motor-oil. Thin brown head that dissipated fast. Aroma of bourbon, coffee, and caramel. Flavor over powered by bourbon and coffee. Alcohol strong in the finish. Heavy beer, thick mouthfeel. This would probably be better if it was aged.

I found two bottles of KBS at the beer store this weekend. I almost had a heart attack. Finding two of these is better than winning the lottery. Anyway, outstanding beer, strong bourbon notes balance the coffee brilliantly. It’s a heavy, high alcohol brew so it takes some time to consume, which makes it all the better.

Thanks bgurdman. Brown-black pour, thin dark head. Roast aroma, some bourbon. Some bourbon-caramel smoothness, bitter melon, smoke. This is good, but I’m missing something if it’s supposed to be great. Thick, lightly tannic mouthfeel.

Drink this at room temp... Pours about as nice as any stout can pour, pitch black with a wonderful head, great retention... Amazing aroma of what bourbon chocolate coffee liqueur should smell like, very creamy smell... Taste matches the aroma almost to a t, but it is not nearly as creamy as the Breakfast Stout... Dry coffee oaky body that is not overly heavy while being full bodied with an intensely full mouthfeel. the warming sensation is a bit much, but if thats the only downside...

Bottle pour. This was absolutely wonderful. The coffee ,vanilla flavors and bourbon were very well balanced, and the oak comes through just enough. Was actually very smooth for a stout and easy to drink.A+
