Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

(35.5cl bottle) Pitch black colour with a creamy beige layer. Strong roast-malty aroma with a smoky touch, notes of (burnt) wood and a tinge of vanilla and alcohol. Burnt bitter flavour with a moderate oaky sweetness, full bodied with a mellow mouthfeel. Roasty malty taste with chocolate, leather, mocha and a distinctive touch of vanilla. Long-lasting roasty and slightly woody finish with vanilla, mocha and a mild, well-integrated alcoholic burn. Also the barrel notes of vanilla fit very well. Superb (09.IV.09).

Disappointed with this one. It didnt live up to the hype in my opinion. It had a great coffee aroma but the bourbon flavour didnt come through as much as I would have liked and it left me feeling a little short changed. I was really expecting something a little more special with this one. Overall just so so.

Bottle. Pours almost completely black with a small reddish brown head. Aroma consists of bourbon, chocolate, and coffee. Taste starts with bourbon, continues with bourbon, and ends with bourbon. If you concentrate hard enough you can pick up some bitter chocolate and coffee in there somewhere.... Fantastic! I really like this one... just not as much as their breakfast stout.

Source: 12 oz bottle purchased in Bowling Green at Chucks.
Appearance: Solid black pour with a very thin brown head.
Aroma: Freaking awesome. Coffee dominates, but notes of dark chocolate are present. Maybe some roasted malt.
Flavor: Roasted malt and coffee mainly, but a bit of chocolate and bourbon are present.
Palate: Full body with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel.
Overall: Best so far. Love this beer. Glad I have more. Wish it was a tad cheaper though.

Not that impressed. Reminded me a lot of Meantime Coffee Porter, but with more alcohol. At room temperature not so good and flat to boot. I let it chill and it was slightly better, more crisp. I give it one thing, the alcohol was strong. Scent of maple and wood. I feel this is overrated.

Pours a dark, dark brown with a very thin tan head. Aroma is strong with cofee, chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon. The flavor is very strong with coffee, but the bourbon and the chocolate stand out in the bitter finish. I have had the breakfest stout before and this is 100% better.

12 oz. bottle - Poured black with barely any head. Served at room temp in brandy snifter. Aroma - bourbon, coffee and vanilla. the oak in the barrels is also very evident in smell. Flavor - If you like bourbon you will love this beer. Tastes like bourbon and coffee mixed. It also had this smokey oak wood taste. Palate - medium bodied with little carbonation. Finish is dry and aftertaste is boozey. Overall - This beer is overhyped, bourbon taste overpowers everything else. Tyranena does better job balancing bourbon and coffee flavors. Price is nuts for this beer(5.99) for 12 oz. I actually prefer the original Breakfast Stout over this!!!

Taste 4/9 bottle. Looks: Deep black with a thin tan top. Aroma: Oak/bourbon, coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Taste: Very balanced and smooth. Goes great with bourbon and Irish whiskey. Flavor is even mix of aroma. Price is steep ($5.00 for 12 ounce) but the abv is high(taxes) and the brew is excellent. I wish this was available year round at this quality with a 4 for $16 price tag.
