Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Super dark pour, Smells of tasty, fresh roast coffee. Tastes very similar to the regular BS, but has a little bourban sweetness at the end. Not overpowering by any means. The bourbon barrell works well for this brew for sure, but coffee still dominates the flavor, and its tasty!

Pours really thick into a pint glass. The color is black, almost totally black with hints of light appearing on the edges. A small tan head forms that slowly laces down. The aroma is in a word, WOW! Coffee and chocolate blended with scents of bourbon, lets just say I like it alot. The taste is just as impressive, the coffee and chocolate malt hit the palate, then the boubon comes in with caramel and vanilla flavors. In the mouth it is thick and syrupy, coating the palate, the leaving that warm feeling of in the back of the throat that bourbon has. This is a very impressive beer, drink slowly, these flavors are meant to be enjoyed gradually. It is nice to see a beer getting intense flavor from something other than hops, not that anything wrong with that.

From bottle - Thanks to Styles : Pours extremly dark black, not a single ray of light shines through. A thin brown head forms then dies, but leaves a thin ring around the outside, with large bubbles. Bubbley lacing as well. Nose is very roastey. Some malts and traces of bourbon are present, but not overpowering, very nice. Even some hints of chocolate. Taste is similar to the smell...imagine that...with wonderful roastedness shining through. Very slight bourbon flavor, which i love in moderation. Unlike some BB aged stouts, where i feel like im shooting Jack Daniels damn near. A medium body, with very smooth creamy feel. Aftertaste is mostly roastedness. Really great stout.

Bottle courtesy Ty5592 - Thanks bud! 2007 vintage. Pours black as night with a pretty nice sized dark tan head. Aroma is very nice, and not overly bourbon like many other similar brews...there’s some telltale bourbon accents, but lots of roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla, oaky accents and burnt alcohol. Flavor is very well done. The alcohol is very evident, but, well, it should be to an extent in a beer like this. The bourbon flavor meshes nicely with smooth milk chocolate, roasted, sweet coffee, heavy sweet malt, and a good dose of vanilla. Finish is pristine...very smooth with an oily, but not over-burdening glaze of the palate. I could drink this stuff on a regular basis...if only it were easily attainable. The regular Bkfst Stout was good, but the bourbon aging definitely does some wonders!

Beautiful black thick pour with amazing brown chocolate milk mocha colored head that is thick and enticing. Aroma is bold and full of oak, roasted coffee beans, and vanilla. Flavor is balanced and not muted. It is vanilla, oak, and roasted maltiness. It has a nice subtle bourbon meets dark chocolate finish. Mouthfeel is nice but a tad on the thin and watery side. Overall, great smell, great look, great taste and very close to perfect.

12 oz. bottle at Red Coat Tavern in Detroit. Pours a thick, oily black with chocolate head, diminishing to a rim. Nose is light bourbon, alcohol and roast, with lots of chocolate and a touch of oak. Taste is like coffee with chocolate and Bailey’s and bourbon. Kind of hot toddy-ish. Thick and creamy, ioly and viscous, start of bourbon and alcohol burn that mellows to a creamy khalua-esque flavor, roast and chocolate. Smooth finish. This is a tasty brew.

Woody oaky nose with some dark malts. Perfect minor chocolate notes mixed with robust coffee flavors. Bitter, fine dry finish.
