Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

( 12oz bottle thanks to dukefan) Pours almost black, coats the glass and good lacing. Nose of coffee, chocolate but no real bourbon here. Taste has the bourbon for sure with dark chocolate and a roasty linger to finish it off. No bitterness left on the palette, this is thick and delicious.

Bottle thanks to Punkrkr27... Pours pitch black with a mocha head.. Aroma is fresh ground coffee and earth(dirt).. Flavor was coffee, espresso bitterness, dark malts and vanilla.. Low carbonation, thick and smooth..Didn’t pick up very much of the barrel aging in this beer but still quite awesome.. Thanks again Steve!

Big thanks to dukefan for this one! #900 for me! Very dark brown pour. Wow. Very dark and thick. Smoky and woody. Lovely aroma. Huge tingle on the palate. Ashy finish with a heavy coffee ground taste. Very tingly. This is very well done!

12 oz. Chocolate black with a small but lasting disc of foam. Nose of smoked Baby Ruth candy bar: chocolate, charred mesquite, vanilla, peanuts and caramel. Taste is the same with some added whiskey and vanilla. Medium-heavy body is dangerously smooth, watery and drinkable. Some bits of peppery alcohol warming on the finish.

Room Temp:Black liquid. Bigger than expected head which fades to a clingy, ring of lasting foam. Overwhelming coffee aroma. Undertones of the bourbon aging, and chocolate. Not much really. Smooth as silk texture. Rolls over the tounge. Upfront dark fruit, chocoalte malt and wood. Heavy ashy, coffee, bourbon flavor follow. Finish is lingering balanced malt and wood from the bourbon aging, with a bare hint of vanilla. I’m guessing this is about a 8-10 month old bottle....Suprised for all that’s here it’s pretty balanced out and real tasty. Also, not near as sweet as expected. As it opens a bit the ashiness goes away a little. A somewhat one sided aroma and heavy ashiness really are the only negatives here. Maybe not the most complex malt profile, but ... Overall this is a strong, but very creamy, easy to drink stout with a tasteful bourbon barrel aging.

12oz bottle thanks to bret27. Black with a tan head. The aroma has dominating coffee, mixed with plenty of oak and alcohol. Hot flavor with a little bourbon, wood, and coffee. Medium-full body with some tannic, woody astringency and alcohol burn in the finish. A blast of flavor, with a cool mix of coffee and bourbon that works a little better than in the aroma. The mouthfeel definitely brings it down though, with too much astringency and alcohol. This is one that I can see liking a lot better with a good deal of age on it to soften things.
