Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Pours an oily black brew. Typical of Founder’s Imperial Stout. The head is nonexistent from the pour. Manages to coax a brown creamy head. The aroma is strong coffee, light bourbon, alcohol, roasted chocolate, roasty all around. The flavor was also strongly coffee, chocolate, light bourbon again, alcohol is well contained, vanilla extract shows. Different taste for an impy, not quite as sweet. The palate is smooth and rich. Alcohol finishes warm and creates a mild warmth in the stomach. Excellent beer.

I thought this beer was amazing. Unfortunately, i was only able to drink one of them, because my father drank the other three while i was at work one night, and exclaimed "it tastes like moxy"

Name: Kentucky Breakfast
Date: April 29, 2006
Mode: Bottle
Source: Tasting, Dark Lord Day, 2006
Appearance: black, whispy tan head
Aroma: huge ashy coffee aroma with sweet bourbon character
Flavor: big sweet bourbon flavor, lots of roasted character, huge coffee, good balance between the roasted and the bourbon

Name: Kentucky Breakfast
Date: May 06, 2006
Mode: bottle
Appearance: sweet malt or bourbon aroma fills the air as soon as you pop but upon insertion of nose into glass it becomes all ash that eventually fades (or saturates) revealing the sweet bourbon, bits of lace
Flavor: thick sweet bourbon is the initial flavor impression, good rich and chewey chocolate comes through strong, coffee character is well balanced, very drinkable for a 10% beer as it only has a hint of any alcohol, deserves a higher score as it is best in its class, but it is in the second best class (behind Belgian quads)

First bottle of the 2007 Summer Secret Santa Stash. Black beer smells like an ashtray. Flavour is smooth, alcohol, prune a touch of chocolate and a touch of ash. Weird ashtray and prune.

Thanks to BillVanE for sharing those 2 with me. Great way to start the day! Beautiful imp stout. Really loved the bourbon and coffee taste, which is surprising since i really dont like coffee a lot. Really need get get a case of this and just let it sit in the cellar, having one once in a while.

I think I had 2 or 3 glasses of this at The Glass Nickle over GTMW weekend. The problem is that my notes were written in Chineese. I sent out an SOS and Ughsmash saved my ass.
Pitch black with a rich lasting brown head. Good lace. Beautiful. The aroma is really blended well. You get all the coffee, bourbon, and oak and such. The aroma is great, but it does nothing for the onslaught of flavor that comes next. Lots of of cold steeped coffee aroma. The flavor is a wonderful blend of chocolate, coffee, soft bourbon, a drop of vanilla, and a good oaky dry finish. Chewy, lush, full body. Very easy drinking. Unbeleivable. Jason, you are a life saver.

12 oz bottle, Are you Frikin’ kidding me?I cant save anything...this would have one to put a few away for later...oh well... A deep black color with a creamy dark brown head. Nose is very very alluring - chocolate, coffee, some decent bourbon notes, touched with vanilla. Full, rich mouthfeel, did I mention Creamy? wow Creamy!!! I LOVE this Beer... Very complex flavors, rich chocolate, smooth coffee, distinct soft bourbon. Full of body and the integration of the flavors here is completely seamless. A fantastic beer from a fantastic brewing company... more please
