Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Bottle@home Apperance: Pitch black with a small beige head. Aroma: Roasted grain, Coffee, Bourbon, Vanilla. Flavor: Chocolate, Espresso, Bourbon, Grain, Dark caramel. Palate: Very smooth with low carbonation. Body is a bit thin. A great stout that lacks a bit in body and malt to be world class. Still very good and well worth a try!

12oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a huge tan head. Aroma is huge bourbon, wood, chocolate and coffee, awesome! Flavor is much the same. Huge bourbon, chocolate, coffee, oak, vanilla and more bourbon in the finish. This is a huge wonderful beer, I would love to have more of this sitting in the fridge, what a treat! An amazing beer!

Bottle courtesy of Adrian. God this beer is amazing. The nose is liking smelling a glass of bourbon. Huge woody with massive dark chocolate and coffee. The bourbon nose is just insane. Flavor is rich dark chocolate up front. Then big woody vanilla notes of bourbon and a dry super roasty coffee finish and another warming dose of bourbon. This is a sipping beer. Its not shy on the alcohol burn but man this is tasty stuff. Decadent

On tap a MBG Summer Festival. Poured black with a dark brown thick head. Aroma was full of dark chocolate and coffee notes and the bourbon is light but balances well. The flavor was full of delicious dark flavors throughout and complimented by a growing strength throughout. A truly amazing beer.

Wow, this is looker, especially in a Burgundy glass. Coffee, sweet vanilla, and a chocalte bhip cookie (still in the oven) climb out of the glass. The booze has faded a little on this current release. Similar to regular breakfast, maybe a with a little more time in the gym. The mouthfeel has put on some considerable weight and the dark chocolate and toasted nut has evovled to more than a light fade. The bourbon shows itself with a soft suggestion of sour mash with a burnt sugar and a dose of whiskey strength. You won’t have to guess if it’s there or not. In the 5 or so months this has cellared, it has mellowed and the beer continues to intergrate. A year should be perfect. Drinking luxury.

Bottle. Pours black with a small light tan head. Aroma of roasted nuts, chocolate peanut butter, coffee, and a touch of bourbon. Flavor is a touch more bourbony with more chocolate and lots of coffee. The bourbon is light but definitely present in the flavor. This is s good beer! Better than the original? Maybe... 9/4/8/4/16 (4.1/5)

12 oz bottle poured into snifter. Fantastic aroma of chocolate, bourbon & oak. Thin rapidly fading brown head that leaves sticky lacing. Very dark, like the spittle from a tobacco eating grasshopper. Palate is surprisingly light and refreshing, slightly filmy, smokey, like a couple of perfect chocolate brownies. You don’t feel the alcohol in your mouth, but it spreads slowly in your chest. So smooth . . .I’d love to try this one on tap.
