Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

Inky dark brown. Chocolate and graham cracker aroma is fudgey, nutty. Sweet, with lots of vanilla, roasty, nuts and wood. Complex, but in an assertive, over-the-top kind of way. Nice brew. Not stylish but clubbed-over-the-head goodness is still goodness.

[Courtesy of yespr, session @ yespr] Pitch black with tiny short lasting head. Aroma is sweet with roasted malt, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and bourbon notes. Sweet flavor with roasted near burned malt, bitter chocolate, bourbon, aok, vanilla and coffee notes. Alcohol warms you up nicely. Lovely!

(12oz bottle, thanks for sharing BuckNaked) Small brown head atop brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cocoa, coffee, milk chocolate, some roast, light bourbon. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, oak, earthy. Watery medium-full body, alcohol well hidden. Gentle bourbon/oak helps balance and thereby improves the Breakfast Stout, which I generally have found too coffeeish.

Bottle at The Rake, HogTownHarry visit May 2009. Good subtle bourbon on aroma. Black lasting tan head. Quite sharp on the aroma. Lots of bouron on end. Very choccy. Just a bit too intense to be enjoyable if truth be told.

Thank you so much Daniel/TheCheeseMan for this one! It’s pitch black with a nougat colored, dense and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and bourbon, and I also find hints of burnt chalk. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of hard roasted malt, chalk, bourbon, vanilla, a warming alcohol, coffee, licorice and hints of chocolate. The finish has a kind of ashy feeling to it. It’s a very fascinating beer, but since I do not like a pronounced bourbon or whisky flavour - I prefer the simply divine Breakfast Stout, if I could choose.

Bottle. Twist off cap, which Jesper opened with a bottle opener. :-) Pours a pitch black colour with a creamy brown head leaving a good lacing. Very good aroma of chocolate, some bourbon, roasted malt and some wood. Very good creamy mouthfeel. Lovely dry flavour of dark bitter and sweet chocolate, coffee, vanilla, well balanced with bourbon and roasted malt. Just such a great tasting brew indeed! Thanks a lot for sharing this great beer yespr!

Bottle. Black and opague. Malt, chocolate, licorice, corn and a hint of smoke in the aroma. Strong bourbon notes accompanying the dark chocolate, cacao and licorice flavors. Sweet, full bodied, malty and corny.
