Sweet, with lots of vanilla, roasty, nuts and wood. Complex, but in an assertive, over-the-top kind of way. Nice brew. Not stylish but clubbed-over-the-head goodness is still goodness. Aroma is sweet with roasted malt, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and bourbon notes. Sweet flavor with roasted near burned malt, bitter chocolate, bourbon, aok, vanilla and coffee notes. Alcohol warms you up nicely. Lovely! argo0 (6987), Washington DC, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 22, 2006 (12oz bottle, thanks for sharing BuckNaked) Small brown head atop brown-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, cocoa, coffee, milk chocolate, some roast, light bourbon. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, oak, earthy. Watery medium-full body, alcohol well hidden. Gentle bourbon/oak helps balance and thereby improves the Breakfast Stout, which I generally have found too coffeeish. harrisoni (6871), Ashford, Kent, England

Black lasting tan head. Quite sharp on the aroma. Lots of bouron on end. Very choccy. Just a bit too intense to be enjoyable if truth be told. Maria (6318), Thisted, Denmark
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 5, 2008 Thank you so much Daniel/TheCheeseMan for this one! It’s pitch black with a nougat colored, dense and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt and bourbon, and I also find hints of burnt chalk. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of hard roasted malt, chalk, bourbon, vanilla, a warming alcohol, coffee, licorice and hints of chocolate. The finish has a kind of ashy feeling to it. It’s a very fascinating beer, but since I do not like a pronounced bourbon or whisky flavour - I prefer the simply divine Breakfast Stout, if I could choose.
