Commercial Description:
A bit of backwoods pleasure without the banjo. This strong stout is brewed with a hint of coffee and vanilla then aged in oak bourbon barrels. Our process ensures that strong bourbon undertones come through in the finish in every batch we brew. We recommend decanting at room temperature and best enjoyed in a brandy snifter.

12oz bottle pours out black and thick like oil. Topped with a sweet tan head. Great aroma of coffe and almond joy candy. Tast of sweet chocolate and vanilla. What a treat from FOOTBALM thanks so much.

Thin brown head with a fair retention. Lacing is surprisingly sticky, lasting and attractive. A pitch black colored brew. Nose is big roast, coffee, cocoa and lovingly chocolatey with the bourbon buried in the back. Body is med/full with a coating mouthfeel, silky. Tons of roast, coffee and chocolate playing off the bourbon flavors. The whisky is brash but does,nt seem out of place here. Roast is big and tasty with some black malt notes as well. Finish is dry, chocolatey and roasty, whisky of course. Alot of Stout here! Props to CMUBEERMAN for the bottle!

(first off many thanks ti sliffy for the hookup.)i have been waiting to try this brew for ages now,i guess today is the day!this b.a. stout poured a thick motor oil black with a nice, but small dark brown head.as the head sat it left nice dark webbing on the glass.i then held the snifter up to my nose and could not believe what i recieved.the first wave of aroma was,you guessed it,coffee!the second wave was a lovely blend of bourbon and oak,not overpowering, but just right.the third was a mix of dark and milk chcoolate.then the fourth was a blend of oatmeal, roasted malts, and black liquorice.ok now after smelling it for ten minutes, ill take the fisrt sip.WOW!the numerous levels of taste hit my palate so fast it was hard to even catch them all.after a few more sips i picked up on what my brain was telling me was absolute bliss, and what made it that way.coffee, chocolate covered raspberries, bourbon, oak, vanilla, milk chocolate, alcohol, black liquorice, and roasted malts all smacked me across the face every time i took a sip.is this beer prefect?i would say YES!its right up at the top with speedway stout to me and my only complaint that i have is that i only have another bottle. SECOND BOTTLE ON 6-6-06 BY WAY OF NEWCASTLE01.would i still give this a perfect rating?HELL YEAH!i still cant get over how good this beer is.and i still have one more bottle.

Thanks to Eric for this brew. Pours a dark black with a awesome aroma of bourbon and wood. The body is nice and thick. The taste is really earthy: a creamy whiskey taste with smoke, chocolate, coffee and bourbon. To quote Borat: Very Nice!

NorCal tasting Jan 07 - Well this was definitely better than the regular Breakfast Stout. Aroma still had that used coffee grounds aroma but with it there was the bourbon to help balance things out, along with a touch of vanilla. Still hard to overcome that used coffee grounds. Flavors were coffee, bourbon, whiskey, walnuts, and chocolate rounded out by a decent showing of hops. An easy drinking beer that might find it’s way into my fridge more often than not if it was available locally.

Dark, blackish pour with a medium but thick tan head - just under room temp at pour. Aroma is dominated by coffee and dark chocolate, but a nice helping of oak and bourbon come through. Flavor is a nice coffee/chocolate mix with some impressive wood (oak), bourbon, and vanilla flavors. Barrel aging does well for this one. Mouthfeel is superb - smooth, smoky and delicious. A real winner here!

This is a nicely done imperial in the bourbon style. Dark black body is sitting under a very thin, almost non existent mocha head. Boozey-er than its breakfast counterpart, with the coffee still there, along with the roasty malts, though the bourbon takes away some of that. You can taste the booze, along with some of the earthy bean that was also present in it’s younger brother. This is a good example of what the style should be. Not offensive, and fairly easy to drink given the bourbon base and the ABV. Thanks to my girlfriend for sharing her sample. MI brewer’s guild fest- 06

(Bottle, Thanks Ughsmash) Pours black. Roasted, deep aroma of dark chocolate, dry cocoa, dark malt and coffee. Also a lot of oak wood up front with tones of vanilla and bourbon whisky. Medium roasted, light burned flavour with tones of bitter cocoa, salty liquorice, warming alcohol and some coffee. Well notable oak features in the flavour as well. A bit peppery and fiery. Oily, smooth almost a bit numbing mouthfeel with a medium to full body. Light to medium bitter with a tiny sweetness. Dark malt and oak in the lingering aftertaste. Truly world class. Second try: Pours black with a small dark brown head. The aroma is heavily coffee roasted with toned of green peeper and jalapenos. Just a whisper of vanilla-like oak and cocoa chocolate hints. Dry roasted. The flavour is of aromatic, dry coffee, bit sugary and vanilla-ish oak. Light dark fruity and blackberry. The mouthfeel is oily and round. Near full bodied.
